We definitely could use help coaching up the safeties. He would probably be a great recruiter.

but who am I to question a LSU great/ NFL All-Pro that WANTS to come back and coach at LSU.

so did Kevin Mawae. He was most recently fired from a high school head coaching job in Nashville

I hope they give him the chance. This kid has grown into a fine person and one hell of a pro. He seems like he could genuinely help the program as well as he wants to help the program.

The guys that are physically limited but are able to compete at borderline HOF level of play due to their IQ and instincts are the guys you want coaching.

Imagine you’re a kid from New Orleans and TM7 is coming into your home to personally recruit you.

He was most recently fired

some particulars

They fired the local coach here and now he is going for a repeat as state champ with his team.

Why do people assume he will be a good coach.

Players that have super instincts and are super stars almost never make good coaches. They play on their instincts which is what makes them great and is something you can’t coach to others.

It’s why most great coaches were either role players or didn’t even play at all.

What makes YOU think he can't?

Start as an analyst. See if he’s cut out for this. Former players especially big name guys like him don’t typically pan out as coaches.

You said the same of Kevin Faulk as well, right?

Faulk's post NFL-career:

2013-2017: Carencro Assistant Coach/OC
2018-2019: LSU Director of Player Development
2020: LSU RB Coach
2022: NYG Running Back Staff Intern

Point being, even he didn't jump straight to the LSU staff directly out of the league.

yeah, he was fired for recruiting violations. The team that fired him, Lipscomb, is 4-6 this year. They were also banned from the playoffs this year (otherwise everyone makes the playoffs, regardless of record), so no his team is not going for a repeat

In my opinion he’s a natural and why not let him come home where he belongs. The honey badger will be able to Indoctrinate his desire ambition and skills to our DB’s then they will also take what they want

Tyrann was great because of natural instincts. That isn’t something he’s going to be able to transfer to others.

Maybe he can identify it though.

Because he’s never done it before.

Perhaps TM7 can go cut his teeth at a smaller program first. Then if he’s successful come to LSU.

Raymond was an assistant S&C coach in 2008 and our add coach in 2012.

At some point you trust them to run drills and hope their personality works for recruiting

Tyrann is a legend in New Orleans I can’t imagine he wouldn’t recruit well.

DeMevo Ryans was an NFL position coach 3 seasons after he stopped playing. he had been a “quality control” coach for 1 season before that.

But can they TEACH the game to others and coach them up to the another level. Having knowledge is one thing but it takes a very special person to be able to convey that knowledge to others in a way there’ll understand. I know lots of high IQ guys who would make horrible teachers.

What makes horrible players great coaches? Have you ever thought about that one?
