Don’t want him! Just cause he played don’t mean he can coach.

I mean, Neon Deion is a head coach, so there's that.

I can see him starting off as an analyst — for a couple of years.

We need to inject everybody on D with a few drops of Honey Badger nastiness. Would love to see more of our dudes play mean and mad.

Maybe Mathieu can be in charge of defensive culture development.

Nobody is saying make him the db coach immediately. But I’m sure just having him in the building would be a plus.

this is such a stupid take. All the guy has to do is teach the players what he learned during his time at the position. What makes anyone thing that some of these coaches are so great because they 'learned' how to coach. This is just so silly. Are all players good coaches, of course not. Are all coaches good coaches....most assuredly not.
Players that carry star status at LSU and would like to coach the position they starred at, have as much knowledge of the position as anyone.
I guarantee you that Mawae has more knowledge about what works in blocking schemes than our Oline coach and most oline coaches. He did it, knows it, from the inside out.
We could and have done much worse.
I would bet a lot of money that those two guys would seriously upgrade LSU's recruiting at their positions and teach the position better than anything we have had in recent memory.....but yeah, there have been players that were not good coaches, but in my opinion that is a very narrow way to evaluate someone. Most coaches are nothing more than glorified gym coaches and they demonstrate it regularly.

Yes, he has said he wanted to coach at LSU when he retires from playing.
