Been great all year

Wasn’t awful last week, either, just wasn’t sharp

If he gets an off speed over for strikes he’s tough on college bats

The ump strike zone had something to do with that start. Floyd settled in and did not let him affect him. Great pitching performance.

He didn't let the 1st IP take him out of the game. He battled and worked his pitches effectively. HUGE outing for him, against a top five team, as a key weekend starter.

He calmed down after the 2nd inning and had great command which makes him a deadly option.

Ump wasn’t calling that outside corner. His domination would have been more impressive had he got those calls. One thing I would like to see with Floyd is more ball movement. He gets alway with a lot of his pitches due to his velocity but if he added that extra movement to his pitches, he could be in Nola territory. His FB seems to be flat with not much movement.I don’t know if that means developing a different pitch with a different grip on the ball or altering something else in his delivery. With a great pitching coach, I am sure he can get there.

His fastball is probably in the 95th percentile in the country in terms of effectiveness

It’s an MLB quality fastball due to its velocity and ability to remain on plane

He gets hit sometimes because teams sit on fastball knowing he struggles with off speed

Ty Floyd is an impressive pitcher at the SEC level and will be an important part of the 3 game weekend starting rotation throughout the year.

He hangs his curve way too much. Luckily it usually misses so bad they don’t swing at. But he threw 2 or 3 filthy changeups that were basically unhittable. If he can command that enough to throw it in any count, as long as he has command of his fastball, as good as those 2 are, he could probably get away with only really throwing 2 pitches.

Throw that curve just enough to catch hitters off guard, give them a different look, and let them know it’s there, but don’t rely on it to try to get outs. Maybe just 3 or 4 times an outing. But that change up is the key. As long as he’s throwing his fastball for strikes.

I remember Poche’ almost always got into trouble in the 1st or 2nd inning, give up a couple runs maybe but then, a lot like Floyd today, he'd would settle in & usually pitch lights out!!

Hopefully Floyd can be a Poche’ & this team will reach its goals if he can.

To be real the ump's strike zone sucked the first 2 innings for Floyd - yeah I know all about the Trac man scoring of calls this season. Then you have Pearson safe at first when he his foot hit 1b while the throw to 1b was still a foot before hitting the first baseman's glove. Yeah, it got overturned quickly but the guy making the call had a direct line line of sight less than 6 feet from the base. Annoying AF, props to the Tigers for grinding and run ruling Arkie.
