Not from me or my dad (RIP) - one of our favorite players ever.

Think he averaged over 20ppg, 8rpg and almost 5apg with over 40% from 3 as a Sr. If he played today people would be going bananas over him.

31 points in the 2nd half. Find a larger deficit

quote:

The biggest comeback in NCAA Division I men's basketball history occurred on February 22, 2018, when Drexel University overcame a 34-point deficit to defeat Delaware 85-83. Trailing 53-19 with 2:30 left in the first half, Drexel staged a historic second-half rally to surpass the previous record of 32 points

Previous Record: Duke trailed by 32 points against Tulane on December 30, 1950, but came back to win 74-72.

so the Kentucky one was literally NEVER a record.

I watched that LMU game the other night… I didn’t know in sec play 6 fouls to foul out but in the non conference game, it was 5.

the SEC "experimented" with the 6 fouls rule for a year or two back then.

Splitting hairs, but are folks mixing up largest halftime comeback vs. largest comeback?

So glad that was my peak LSU basketball watching days. Dale had some talented teams and we could compete with anyone back then now not so much.

Without even reading the thread or any of the replies, the "Two Iconic Games" that first popped into my head were........

1.) 95-94 win in OT over #1 ranked Kentucky in 1979 with all 5 starters fouled out and on the bench!

2 ) 148-141 win in OT in 1990 over Loyola Marymount.

HM's......

* 86-66 win over Alabamasucks in 1979, winning the SEC Championship and then unraveling an SEC Championship banner from the AC catwalk rafters BEFORE the game was over! (Bama HC C.M. Newton got real pissed off about this after the game)

* 99-89 win over Tennesse in 1992 in the SEC Tournament in Birmingham. (The infamous Shaquille O'Neal - Carlos Groves fight game)

* 92-90 win over Georgetown in 1989 in the Superdome, as Ricky Blanton gets a putback at the buzzer.

Good memory but Andy Campbell didnt come in. The t on the floor in OT once the last starter Ethan Martin fouled out was Rick Mattick, Floyd Bailey, Ernie Brown Willie Sims and Jordy Hultberg.

Neither trailed by 30+ in the 2nd half.

Kentucky was down 68-37 with under 15 minutes left to go in the game.

Nobody has ever made up that amount of points in the 2nd half

I remember being at a HS party and watching that 1978 kentucky game. the whole place was going wild with the starters fouled out. And I was at the fricking Super Bowl in New Orleans for the Loyola Marymount game. Truly pissed me off as that was one of the worst Superbowl blowouts ever while my brother and friends were at the PMAC watching a classic. And I was living in Las Vegas at the time so got into many arguments with UNLV guys about who was better. Won a lot of money off them with the LSU win in 1990. They were so confident they were going to win they bet me straight up.Didn't even take the points. I believe they were getting 2.5-3. Also beating Memphis with the last second shot by Anthony Wilson in the NCAA tournament game at the PMAC. Has to be in the top 10 along with the win over Ga Tech.

I would sub Kenny Higgs for that. LSU's all time assist leader and No. 7 all time scorer.

He got 5 minutes playing time. I sure thought he had some time in OT. Either way, beating the # 1 team in the nation, with the starting 5 fouled out is incredible.-- plus I was only 9.

LSU vs UNLV was a hell of a game

UNLV brought their cheerleaders that game, iconic!

They did a stunt where the male cheerleader put one girl on his shoulders with feet sticking out in front of him. Then another cheerleader girl put the ankles of the girl on the shoulders, under her arms. Male cheerleader would spin the around. I remember and old dude yelling, “Hey man, you got her facing the wrong way!”
Male cheerleader smiled as he ran back to the sidelines.

I was there for both of them. The LMU game was wild. Hank Gathers passing away was hard to comprehend. Back then the technology that would have possibly caught his heart problem wasn’t as good as it is now He was good. Bo Kimble was shooting free throws left handed the rest of the year in honor of Hank. If I remember correctly the Georgetown game was won with a rebound and put back as the buzzer sounded by Ricky Blanton
