For a program on the mend, having a season opener against a lesser opponent makes an awful lot of sense. It's hard for me to believe LSU would have dropped the FSU game had the SU game flipped with it on the schedule.

I think you could make the argument that even during the greatest season ever, opening the season with a game that allowed real game reps helped tremendously against UT, the following week- even with the weapons they had on hand...

Just my .02....

The FSU loss isn't going to matter if LSU runs the table.

Play tough games early, you benefit from the competition and preparation.

I do agree. But now with the playoffs being expanded, we won't need to rely on an undefeated season. 1 or 2 losses will get us where we need to be.

Cupcake games vs Premiere matchups are always a double edge. If the team is ready and experienced then it can help us in the polls early in the season. That’s the formula I usually prefer. Get tested and come out ahead for a slingshot into the season.

That game was scheduled post 2019 and pre 2020 season, so nobody saw LSU being a team on the mend in 2022 then.

While I do think we probablly win FSU if he had payed another game, I am not sure the elements that we saw as problematic would have shown themselves vs SU. We could have easily won that game vs FSU as it was.

LSU needs to schedule Sam Houston now for 8/23/25. (Hawaii rule?)
We play at Clemson 8/30

Or Utah State or Wyoming
