Right, I was about to say that Tulane is not a school that the people of the city could embrace in their hearts as a "local team". It's a small private school that's too expensive for most to attend, and the majority of their student population is from other parts of the country. Like you said, they all move away once they graduate.

So there's nothing "local New Orleans" about Tulane, other than address, really.

Did you just have to go back almost 2 decades to find something Tulane has done worth a shite and then use another team to rag on us?

God, it must suck to suck! bahahaha

Hasn't Tulane dropped down to NAIA, or Division III or JUCO, they haven't been relevant since Larry Smith and the 1998 Tulane team played a horrible schedule, SEC Teams would have annihilated them

I don't know why any LSU fan under 70 is obsessed with hatred for Tulane. Indifference I could understand.

Tennessee
Florida
Auburn
Mississippi State

The four teams above would have maybe annihilated them. Keep in mind, Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss and the rest of the SEC was atrocious.

Lot of LSU alumni too. Horrible leadership in Louisiana = no jobs = college graduates leave.

There are more LSU alumni in Houston than there are in Louisiana.

One of our guys (Ron Sancho?) went full retard with his helmet in that fight. He was using it as a mace. I think that was the same game that Steve Rehage almost killed somebody on the opening kickoff and gave himself a concussion.

1998 Tulane Green Wave NCAA Men’s college football champions

Perfect season and 167,661 butts in seats at Superdome.
But, 246,507 buttless seats that year.

Opponents combined win-loss record during regular season 45-80. Only 2 with winning 7-5 records an La Tech at 6-6. Rutgers was the only Automatic Qualifying conference member played on a super weak schedule.

But the Tulane head coach got a real job before they met #2 in WAC BYU in Liberty Bowl.

Tulane football games are legit. Superior and Moe’s BBQ booths, variety of Nola beers, Full service bars and prices are not really that inflated.

Makes for a great Saturday afternoon uptown, fan or not.

I've never really understood the hate we have for Tulane. Even back in the 80's and 90's. Just didn't make sense to me. Does it relate the same as Bama now? Because for me, I can't stand losing to Bama, but I would never start talking shite or fight someone from Bama just because of a rivalry in football.

I never understood it either. I guess the proximity had something to do with it. When I was in kindergarten, I ran flat into a console tv set and the corner I hit the corner of it right between the eyes and had to goto the ER for stitches. The Dr that came to the room had a Tulane pin on and my dad literally requested another Dr. It didn't happen, but funny part was he said that I only needed one stitch and that the deadening shot would hurt just as much so dad said just stitch it. Dr says "sorry, it's gonna take 2 stitches" and dad was pissed.

Take the vitriol that comes from LSU vs UL Lafayette, and throw in a few additional things to it:

1. New Orleans vs Baton Rouge (we still see this on this site)
2. LSU actually losing to Tulane from time to time
3. Being in the SEC with them, so their record vs ours really matters

It's an old school thing that we don't really see that much, but at one time vitriol was a mild word to use for it. You had the elitest blue blood yat Tulane faithful vs the blue collar redneck LSU faithful, and it just didn't mix. I think Katrina pretty much did it in, because after Katrina the school went on a rampage to build up numbers of students, which is where you have the majority hipster student population from out of state. This always existed, just not to the extent it is now.

Some of the more faithful I’ve come across are from south Louisiana. Sure, there are LSU fans in north Louisiana, but I also see more Alabama, Arkansas and LA Tech fans than I do LSU.

Is it really an owning when Garic was wrong? Tulane didn’t go 2 and BBQ.
Actually just makes Garic look like a bigger loser than he already is.
