His stipulation is 11-19 plus 2-3 wins in Hoover and we're in. I want no part of needing 2-3 in Hoover to feel comfortable. And even then I think we'd be sweating it out if we finish 11-19 in the reg. season

that’s wild. Worse anyone’s ever done and gotten in was 13-17.

Granted I think we would get in at 13-17 with a win or 2 in Hoover but can’t imagine 11-19 would be good enough for an at large bid. We’d only be 2-8 in SEC series if we lost the rest after sweeping Auburn. We need to go 14-16 to feel comfortable about getting a bid regardless of how we do in Hoover.

Sweep Auburn (8-13)
1 against A&M (9-15)
2 at Bama (11-16)
Sweep Ole Miss (14-16)

Yeah I don’t know who Musso is but we aren’t making it at 11-19. We’ve got to get to 13, preferably 14 wins. (Regular season)

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t believe an SEC team has ever made the NCAA tourney with 12 or less regular season conference wins.

we should sweep them

I know we’re all counting wins here towards the finish line, but I really disagree with going into any weekend expecting a sweep…of anyone.

Just win games - preferably more than you lose this weekend - and let’s re-evaluate going into next weekend. We all want a sweep, just as we did at Mizzou, but it’s definitely not sweep or season over……..yet.

I think we need good wins to get in at 13-17. Like a series win against A&M and bama. We’ve fallen short against all the good teams we have played thus far.

Bama made it a few years back at 12-17 and got sent to Ruston. We famously got left out at 13-17 in 2011.

If the committee treats wins in Hoover = regular season SEC wins then 12-18 and 2-1 in Hoover should do it. I've also heard somewhere 15-15 should lock up a host. Doubt we go 10-2 down the stretch tho.

Interesting on Bama at 12 wins. Gonna look that up, I have always been of the mindset :

13 wins: flip-a-coin
14 wins: most likely in
15 wins: 100% in

The SEC tournament doesn’t really matter in post-season selection historically

it’s been done before. One thing I notice and can say for sure is the posters who act like we wouldn’t even make a regional at 15-15 is a clear red flag they have zero idea what they’re talking about. At .500 we’d at worst be an 2 seed and nowhere near the bubble.

The season is not over
Considering a strong finish is not off the table. we’d have to finish 10-2 to get to .500 but we’d easily be back in the top 25 and on the bubble of hosting a regional if we somehow got hot and pulled that off.

Yeah 15-15 is easy. Not only are we in, it’s possible we could host a regional. Regardless, in either way. Agreed…anyone that questions 15-15 hasn’t followed SEC baseball for long.

13-17 is the concern and question as to whether we get in

14-16 history says in, not much to stress about

Yeah I'm not really sure how but they went 12-17 for 2 straight seasonss. '21 and '22. Made NCAA field the first time, went 1-2 at Ruston, and sat home in 2022.

Typical year you have 8 or 9 teams make the post season tournament. The record is 10 but that does not happen often.

So we will stick with the number 9.

8 teams are decidedly ahead of us with no chance for us to surpass them in the pecking order (KY, UT, Vandy, GA, SC, Ark, A&M, MSU). We would be competing against FL for that 9th bid with LSU holding the advantage should we finish 13-17. I can't see us being selected with a 12-18 SEC record.

Sweep Auburn and 2 out of 3 against A&M and I will feel much better about our chances of an NCAA bid.

Play games past the SEC tournament? First objective is to make the SEC tournament.

If you want to look at the situation through the rosiest glasses, you can hope for the following:

Jump pitches the rest of the year as well as he pitched against Missouri.

Holman returns to form and pitches the rest of the year as well as he did against Tennessee.

Ack and Herring combine for great game 3 performances.

The 25 runs in 3 games we scored against Missouri becomes the norm.

The defense eliminates mistakes in pivotal situations.

To truly become good you would need several relievers to improve or return to last year's form.

I don't know how many wins that gets us, but that would be mostly repeats of the best these guys have played. You can't expect any or all of that to happen but you can hope for it. There's a good team in there if they ever put it all together, even with people just performing at the top end of what they're already done this year.
