I get the defense strategy, but the chances one of those two costing you a game compared to the other two winning it at the plate are astronomical.

there have been countless balls that reach the gap for extra bases if Stevenson and/or Laird weren't out there, so yes, they could cost you games. Everyone in the lineup isn't going to be a good hitter. People need to get over it. The biggest thing missing right now is Jacoby Jones. Without him, there is a huge hole at the 7-9 spot in the order

If laird and Stevenson continue their current hitting display, LSU has one too many holes in the lineup. You would have 3 guys ( a third of the lineup) hitting under .250 the last month

I can't believe people bring up the TM spot when Jacoby clearly will return to 2B and move Katz back to 1B. The only real decision is the Stevenson/Foster/Laird combo of who PM plays, but people forget we won a CWS with Derek Helenihi batting at a low average not too long ago.

I feel pretty comfortable saying Foster doesn't run down the ball in right center the way Laird did and it results in a double or triple.

Wow the board has really come full circle.

I agree with you though. Not that he could have made a difference today, but the threat is there.

I agree. Move Laird to center put Foster in right. And Tyler Moore will be out in the regional when Jacoby Jones comes back. But Foster should def be seeing more PT than he is.

I'm not saying don't play Laird... You obviously have to play him or AS, I would choose Laird...

Put Foster in RF and Chinea at first

And I'm saying with Stevenson out, Laird in center, and Foster in right....I have no confidence in Foster being capable of making the play Laird made in right.

Thats one play, he also could've driven in a run. Maybe he gets a better jump on the ball and does make the play

exactly, and Nola only hit .240 that year as well when he started...for defense. LSU fans really are amazing bitching about meaningless games when we're still off to the best start in school history

So what happens to Katz or JaCoby if Chinea is playing first?

Maybe he drives in a run maybe he doesn't. Stevenson and Laird both found a way to get on base tonight and were on as much as anyone else...so it isn't like those two were the problem.

Foster making a great defensive play would be a much bigger surprise to me than the others actually contributing something on offense.
