Watford will be back, no worries.

If he goes try to play professional this year, he will make under $100k easily
You dont know that.
But even if he only made like $75k, that's $75k more than he's making now, he's trying to support his new child.
quote:
I get it, he may need that money now, but that money will be there next year.
But not this year if he chooses to come back to school, he just wants to get paid now.
quote:
I think getting his degree would be more important at this point, assuming he could get it in 3 years. Then he has something to fall back on.
He can finish his degree whenever he wants to, it's not like if he leaves now he can never get it. Shaq finished up his degree like decades after he left.
quote:
And to be clear, Emmitt is one of my favorite LSU basketball players of all time, and i've been watching for a long time.
I like him a lot, and 100% agree he has not shown to be an NBA player yet, at 6'6 the guy needs to develop an outside game, and it's kind of there but he has never shown it enough in college. There's just no room in the league for 6'6 guys who have to play under the rim mostly. Fact of the matter is this is a life decision he's making based on having a kid, and it's hard to fault a guy trying to go out and be a good father.

I do'nt think he's good enough to get a two way deal in the G-League.
If he's just a G-Leaguer, he makes $35k, and that's before taxes. He'd have to get called up to the NBA to make more money, and unless he plays for an affiliate of a crappy team, and even then, it's unlikely considering only 1/4 of G-Leaguers get call ups, and those call ups averaged an additional $44k.
Average salary in Europe is between $65-$100k.
I get he may need to get money now to support his kid, and he should do what's best for his family.

Shaq was also a millionaire when he did this.
Unless you have the money saved up, it's unlikely you go back to school to finish your degree years after the fact.

There's a lot more guys that do this than you realize. They just never get mentioned.

I would imagine that there are programs in place for ex players to come back later and get their degrees with ncaa/LSU financial help.

I see the people mentioning being ready or not and I think back to years ago listening to John Brady discussing this on the Tiger tour after the final four year.
He brought up something that is never mentioned in this discussion, which is the player's maturity. He compared Brandon Bass and Tyrus Thomas. Despite Thomas being a much higher draft choice potential, he said he needed to come back far more than Bass did, who at this time was struggling in the D league. He very accurately described their futures. He said Bass was a very intelligent, mature kid who would reach his potential, whatever that was. While Tyrus lacked maturity and needed to come back and be a vital part of the offense the next year. Brady said he could not tell a kid that was going to get drafted that high to come back, be he felt that Thomas would be used to rebound and play defense and wouldn't be able to improve his offensive game.
I don't know about Watford's maturity level, but he has an older brother who played big time basketball, so I feel he will get good advice. Selfishly I hope he comes back, because he is a very good all around player and can mesh with anyone on the court

I think the thing that might be motivating him more than money is the role he'll be asked to play if he stays at LSU vs going pro.
He needs to improve his perimeter defense, ball handling, and outside shooting to make it at the professional level. LSU has no incentive to put him in a position to do those things next year. If he goes pro, he'll be able to focus on those aspects of his game immediately.

He will be a second rounder. Easily.
Based on what? ESPN has him ranked as the 77th ranked player in their top 100 draft prospects.
“Easily” a 2nd rounder would imply he’s ranked somewhere between 25 and 50. Which he is not.

1 year.

Thank you! Not that I don’t really give ESPN much credit for much. But I do believe hat I have seen it’s my on two eyes. Kid plays Zero defense. Gets manhandled in the paint. Right now I don’t see him getting drafted. IF he comes back for one more year and improves as he has this year he could be top 15 to 20 pick. My opinion is also based on who comes back at other schools with this virus issue. And

Like this from espn a couple months ago?
That would be espn picking him with the 44th pick to Chicago

He's still enrolled in school. He's still taking classes and his still a freshman.

The kid you’re replying to is a fricking idiot. Don’t bother. If Watford gets a second round grade he’s not leaving anyway

Still with the personal jabs. At least you are consistently a pos.
If you did have sources around the team like you always claim you’d know he is gone. But o well. Keep thinking otherwise.

I can’t help it. You’re stupid and when faced with evidence
Posted on 4/13/20 at 6:30 pm to Elleshoe
Evidence like 10 mocks including an espn one from February having him drafted around 40-49?
Posted on 4/13/20 at 7:16 pm to BallChamp00

Mock drafts change significantly every month
