I know Chase will make more after that, but wow that is a lot of $ difference when the better player is on the low side. Heck, Donte Jone will make 2 million more than Burrow. Go figure!

Yeah rookie cap is a bitch.

Not as bad as team control in MLB which is insane.

I'd suspect Burrow will negotiate a new contract this off-season so they can lock him down.

You think there are more people on a rookie deal who deserve more, or who deserve less?

I like NFL rookie deals. It forces a player to prove they are worth a long term major money deal. They are only 4 years for first rounders with a team option for a 5th and if they pick up the 5th year option they have to pay them as one of the top players at their position for that year.

It’s way better than Sam Bradford or Jamarcus Russell crippling their team’s salary cap and also being terrible.

On average? Probably more when you take in all the guys getting cut.

I think some positions that works and some it doesn’t.

say you have an elite RB. Well average of the top 10 is better than open market money then hit ‘em with the franchise tag a few times and he’s what 8 years through his career before ever getting a real contract?

Those deals are what ultimately ruined it.

Burrow going to ask for $50 million a year. Then give it back to take care of Chase Higgins and his OL

Tre is an all pro corner when healthy on his 2nd contract and Jamar is on his 2nd deal.

You should really blow your mind and look up Joe Burrows contract compared to Derek carrs

First time seeing a rookie contract? Hurts is barely making over a million this year. Mahomes is making 45 million. Hurts is the 47th highest paid qb this year. 47th

Once the Eagles sign Hurts to a longer deal, they won't be able to keep that team together.

All players should make a league minimum. Then after the season, they receive adjusted salaries/bonuses based on performance. So Lamar Jackson and Andy Dalton make the same, then when Lamar is hurt the whole time and doesn’t play or Michael Thomas doesn’t play, they don’t get 40 million for Jack shite. That’s the best way to do it.

Drafter young talented player, goes insane for a few years for little pay. Then gets old, gets millions and starts declining.

The NFL is a monopoly. The money power holds all the cards. The players are little more than highly compensated serfs.

White earned his money with his play and was playing at a very high level until he got injured

Chase will get paid, hopefully you get to that second contract before any major injuries
