My wife's family likes the cover 3 up in Round Rock I haven't been yet, but I hear the commercials on the radio from time to time too. Seems they are doing well.
I’ve only been there a couple times. It’s next to a hopdoddys, a hamburger joint in Austin that’s very popular too and was opened by my pals there.
Both are doing better now that all the road construction in front is complete. Round Rock is exploding like other Austin suburbs.

Something to note about Shoal Creek saloon is that, while it is not incredibly far from everything, it is not really adjacent to or within reasonable walking distance to much other night life. As opposed to Lavaca st bar and Rustic Tap.
Also, if plugging in Lavaca Street bar into Uber or your GPS, make sure it’s not the one in the Domain

There’s also a Lavaca St bar on S Lamar St, so i’m guessing there are a total of three of them? The one the OP was referring to is downtown I believe on, presumably , Lavaca St.
One place I haven’t seen mentioned is already known by lots of folks, but if you haven’t been, The Salt Lick is a BBQ restaurant (actually, more of a complex/compound) about a half-hour drive from downtown that’s really good.. there’s an attached winery and the grounds of the place are huge.. the BBQ there is legit, though i admittedly haven’t tried a ton of bbq places in Austin.

Thanks. I am at the mercy of my 4 Texas-Ex cousins who have "planned" our 3 day, 4 night stay. But, at least I get free tickets. And I don't have to reciprocate in 2020 in TS because those damned snobs won't "lower" themselves to attend a game in TS. LOL.
I have to wear a UT cap into the stadium to get my 2 free 40 yard line tickets. My plan is to keep it on until LSU runs on the field when I will throw the damned cap as far from me as I can.

Your cousins sound like some cruel sadistic bastards.

anything about golf?
They have topgolf. I’ve gone to the Austin location a half dozen times and haven’t had a bad experience there yet. As far as everything else OP did a great job. Only thing I love to get when I’m in Austin that I see was left out is Hopdoddy’s custard shakes. Those are like crack

*Posted this below in another thread so I’ll add for Golf information in the Austin area.
I live in Avery Ranch and it’s definitely one of the most popular public courses in Austin.
Terevista, Falconhead and Avery all now under same ownership and really quality courses.
U want some Hill country views
Crystal Falls in Leander TX in NW Austin
Lago Vista is another
More food for thought when visiting Austin you can go North to Georgetown TX (Sun city old people) north of Round Rock has 3 great courses and I love them cause it’s a 100 frickin degrees you can drive carts up to the greens and the older members leave after 9 so u can get 18 in 4.15-4.30 mins and with the amount of people in town and playing that weekend you will thank me the extra 20-25 drive worth it.
Legacy Hill(best of 3)
Cowan Creek
White Wing

There’s also a salt lick in round rock for anyone staying north or in a northern suburb outside the Austin metro.
Also salt lick is BYOB.

These are good recs. Crystal Falls is probably the nicest of those.
If you’re looking to stay in closer to town, the munis (Kizer, Lions, Jimmy Clay, etc.) are decent enough.
Bluebonnet Hill is a fun one, not too far out.
There are a ton of good courses in the area. It’s really a pick ‘em

Thanks for helping out. My wife’s Grandpa works at the course over at Sun City.

I like the City of Austin, but it has its Limits.

I live in Austin and I am so pumped to have my city flooded with tiger fans. We have a TON of awesome breweries here in town. If you want to hit up a brewery while in town, here are some of my favorites, arranged by location:
North-Central Austin: Adelbert's Brewery (belgian style beers) Austin Beerworks (great tap room with tons of beer) 4th Tap Brewing (small selection, okay tap room) Celis Brewery (belgian style beers) Circle Brewing (small tap room, good hefeweizen) Oskar Blues Brewery (huge tap room with stage and food trucks) Brewtorium (large beer hall that’s also serves food)
East Austin: Zilker Brewing and Taproom Lazarus Brewing (beer and coffee shop) Hops and Grain (popular brewery, good IPA) Blue Owl Brewing (specialize in Sour Beer) Live Oak Brewing (fantastic European beers) Southern Heights Brewing (newer but cool taproom)
South Austin: (512) Brewing Company St. Elmo Brewing The ABGB (Austin Beer Garden, great pizza on site) Independence Brewing (love some of these beers) Real Ale Brewing (okay this one is about an hour south of town but they have my all time favorite beer - Devil’s Backbone Triple 8% ABV).
West Austin: Strange Land Brewery Infamous Brewing (try the "Sweep the Leg" peanut-butter stout) Oasis Texas Brewing (located at The Oasis, great views) Jester King Brewery (famous sour beer brewery) Family Business Beer Company (Jep from Duck Dynasty has a food truck here) Last Stand Brewing Argus Cidery (Right next to last stand and Jester King) Suds Monkey Brewing Twisted X Brewing Company
Most of these will require a car or Uber.

Should we assume Texas fans are going to wear Orange so we should wear purple? Would be nice to see the LSU fans in the stadium since we will likely be scattered throughout.
Posted on 8/21/19 at 8:22 am to LSUGrrrl
Texas fans will definitely be in Burnt Orange. My wife and I are both wearing purple to stand out more.

Also, anyone doing an extended stay might consider renting a wakesurf boat on Lake Travis - it's such a beautiful area with cliffs and clear, deep blue water.

I’m planning on going out to Rainey street Friday night. Will probably be packed with Tigers.
Party on!
