Whether this is bait or not, I'll agree.

And I'm not even talking about the 90's, because that period sucked overall until Dinardo brought back the magic.

In general, LSU was a GOOD team, and everyone felt happy with an 8-3, 9-2 season, especially if you were able to win at Bama (which we did in the 80's). We were relevant, had some star players, and were capable of playing with the big boys (I say "playing with", because some of the most memorable games in history were playing tough losses to Nebraska and USC). We might have lost, but we could hold our heads up with pride that we gave a good fight.

Saban's title felt like "finally, it all aligned and we got one". But then you add in Miles early career and title, and the mood changed, we no longer were "good", we're now the new Miami/Fla State, perennial Top 5 team.

And that HAS sucked a lot of the fun out of things. After Miles's first 3 teams kicked the shite out of Miami, Notre Dame and Ohio State in consecutive bowls, just winning a game against a top opponent wasn't enough, it had to be a blowout. And God forbid we lose a game to a good team, that's no longer a valiant effort, it's a disaster.

Somewhere along the line, we as a fanbase have changed from loud and loyal supporters proud of the team, win or lose, to spoiled assholes who act like jackasses if we don't win (hell, Omaha always loved our baseball fans, but we showed our ugly side to them in the loss to Florida).

Don't know if or how we get back to where it was. Maybe once you taste the top spot, some people can't accept anything less.

It's just the way sports are in general now a days! I do agree though. The late 80's, 90's and early 2000's was the best for me as a Tiger fan!

yeah hopefully LSU can go back to being 5-7 and 6-6 every year with no shot at national titles so things can get exciting again.

For me, things turned when we lost that UK game in '07. Everything prior to that was fun, but then we lost to a team we weren't supposed to when we were of championship caliber. It worked out in the end, but things were never the same after that game.

I have loved LSU football for a long time. For me CLM's last years were tough to enjoy with such crappy offensive performances. I do not expect to win the SEC every year but i like when LSU puts its best team and effort on the field, sometimes it results in 'ships and sometimes not but they are fun to watch.

The run from 2000 to 2007 was the best. May never see that again. The excitement levels in 2000 2001. 2002 2003 may never be equaled. It was nuts.

Correct. After 2007 it all changed. 2011 was the anomaly with miles own players finally.

The phrase is a misquote that got famous. It was originally "Eat your cake and have it too!"

Lol frick you. It was not fun getting our arse kicked for years.

It wasn't that bad if you grew up in the 90s and that's all you knew. You just looked at the Floridas of college football and hoped LSU would be good enough to beat them one day.

LSU football was more fun when we didn't have candy assed whiney little fricks as fans like we do now. Fans use to have some backbone about themselves. They get sand in their vag when one play doesn't work, or the defense has a negative play.

The most fun I've ever had was from 2000-2003. Expectations were minimal. We lost a few each year and that was normal. We didn't get too upset about it though because it had happened every year. But we beat some great teams, made some awesome bowl games, and won some titles. After that expectations grew and the fun kinda got sucked out. I've talked to Auburn friends who said the same thing. Living in the same state as Saban hurts even worse for them though.

Yes.....CLM's offenses made watching games a miserable experience.....even when we won!
I'm thinking games will be enjoyable again with our new offense
