LMAO, you need a therapist, brah. They played well. Our fans appreciate good baseball and showed them some respect.

So why wouldn't he just not make a comment on it at all?

As opposed to other fans around the country who are ignorant and cannot tell when their team has been outplayed?

I don't give a frick about their season. Why should I congratulate them on it? I'm not one of those fans that cares about being looked at as 'the best fans in the country'.

Oh, so you're the other kind of LSU fan we are infamous for?

That clears it up, glad you were'nt there to tarnish the good fans.

Carr on with your mission

Isn't that kinda the whole point of why they congratulated them?

This whole victory lap thing isn't something that LSU invented by the way. There are plenty of little league, high school, college, and professional teams that do it.

I think its funny because the rant usually complains about how bad our fans are for the other reason

if I was there I would have told them to "Suck that Tiger dick, bitch!" as they went around the field

then Tiger Baited them all the way out to their bus

The standing O they got was more than enough to congratulate them. . Celebrating with them after taking it to us is a whole different thing.

But you said earlier that the act in itself didn't bother you.

I'm not really all that bothered by the actual act, just the self righteous douches who pat themselves on the back for doing it

I said from the start I thought it was lame as hell, but since I've just gotten more annoyed with the people who think it was just such an awesome display of how great of fans we are

As someone who is a self-righeous douche when it comes to baseball and who wasn't at the game, I can likely assure you that it wasn't pre-meditated. Not like the fans rehearsed a celebration for the opposing team after the game. From what I've gathered the SB right fielder shook hands with the student section after the game and things kindof eslcalated from there. Also, it took place on a relatively small scale. Finally, it does preserve LSU's prestigious reputation as it pertains to the support of the sport of baseball.

i was actually going to post earlier asking how it actually got started in the first place

this makes sense to me

Its not like they went around the whole stadium and the line was 3-4 rows deep of fans cheering...it was likely pretty small and spur of the moment

The rage in this thread over what happened after the game is stupid.

I was in the Superdome when we beat Ohio State for the national championship in football a few years ago. Coming down the ramp I was walking next to some Ohio State fans. I said it was a good game and I thought their team played well. I wished them a good time during their stay.

Am I correct now that I shouldn't have done that? Or is it that I can only do that if we win? Should I have thrown a beer on this family and punched the biggest one in the mouth to send a message to the others?

Damn, this sportsmanship thing is getting complicated all of a sudden.

Is it just me, or does it seem that both sides of this "debate" might have a little too much of their personal egos wrapped up in this LSU athletics program?

Don't you know you should always exercise behavior similar to road rage and just short of teabagging toward any team, win or lose? You should act like trash and pour beer on their fans in addition to that. Oh, and be sure an spit on them if you can and curse loudly in front of their small children, as well. Never ever congratulate them for a game well played, shake hands with an opposing team's player or fan and for crying out loud, don't high five them. If seen doing any of those things, one of the classier of the Rant is liable to put you in the hospital.

I've played ball, been to a lot of games. The applause was more than enough. Staying around to congratulate them on beating the crap out of your team is too much.

Showing your appreciation for a performance is great, but doing the same thing you'd do if LSU had won is stupid

Showing class & respect when due will never go out of style. As evidenced by several of the players' tweets, they recognized it for what it was & appreciated it. Like they do with Chris Guillot. Knock the victory lap all you want.Knock him all you want. If the players appreciate it, that is all that matters to me as it was their blood, sweat & tears left out there on the field.
