I liked the guy but come on. He probably wasn’t in the top 5 best football players on that team

Tommy Casanova
Billy Cannon
Johnny Robinson
Kevin Faulk
Glenn Dorsey
Patrick Peterson
Devin White
Bert Jones

There are probably twenty more who could be listed from Fournette to Tittle but this eight will do.

Just a thought, maybe Hester didn't have glowing stats, but how many of the other backs mentioned helped us win a national championship?

These list need some rules to define them. Are we going on just their LSU career or their pro career is included. We had some great players, Jones and Tittle at the top of this list, that because of the ultra conservative offense he played in, had no where near the college career of Hodson, but was a great NFL QB.

I always go by their LSU career only

I start off with the 3 retired jerseys and what I feel is the next to be retired

Cannon, Casanova and Stovall, then Faulk.
Then I go by the players who were regarded as best in the nation for multiple years, regardless of pro potential or not: Josh Reed, Patrick Peterson, Dorsey and Fournette.

Guys like Van Buren and Taylor are difficult to judge because the way the game was played in their era, very few players really stood out, but they later became great pro players
