He doesn't even have to go play pro now if he decided against it.
That might be the most underrated story line in all of this. When Cam got $180K and players were getting cars, there was still plenty of incentive to turn pro and make millions.
If NIL offers keep going up, you can show up to campus, flame out and ride the bench, then find a way to invest money and strike it rich.

It was posted that LSU offered Underwood 1.5 Million. . Michigan offers 10Mil. Sorry, don't blame the kid
LSU was 1.5 a year. Michigan didn’t offer 10 million a year. Why do people keep saying this?

People bitching about Underwood flipping over 12 million. What would ANYONE do if offered that? I LOVE LSU, but if my son was offered that, I’d get a Michigan tattoo and say frick LSU. That’s generational money for Underwood’s grandkids.
I would get the team I really want to be with to up their offer a little bit and avoid the stink of fricking desperation that is obvious in that huge arse offer that they had to make to get him to flip. Give me a fricking break. Some people are smart enough to pass on the offer that looks too good to be true, or is being pumped up to cover up a ton of deficiencies.
Those very deficiencies, their offensive system, coaching and lack of overall talent and depth on that side of the ball, will hold him back from being able to play at his full potential..

Nah, his money grubbing father will likely siphon off 75% of what Bryce gets paid.

I will never wish failure on a kid, BUT, it would be super awesome if Underwood is a bust for so many reasons. It's almost like the college football landscape needs him to fail.
If making 12 million bucks is a bust, then he’s already guilty.

Well damn. If only we had a successful NFL QB or two to make our case.
Daniels and especially Burrow aren’t lifting a finger for a BK led LSU.

LSU was more than 1.5. It was an amount of 6 million total with a roll over to year four making it more

2 million vs 12 million is a no brainer - everyone on this board would take the the job with 12 million.

Bryce lacks the chest.

In all honesty you could say the same thing about LSU right now.

He hasn’t made shite yet. He needs to not win and not become a top 10 pick. Something has to give these money people some apprehension about dropping that kind of money on 17/18yr olds. Those rich dudes ain’t stupid. They’ll start questioning their ROI eventually.
At least I hope…..

That’s a pretty persuasive argument. I wonder if CBK or Sloan were as eloquent as you?
Or … if maybe CBK has any contact with JD5 or Joe Burrow since coming to LSU? Pretty standard for colleges to bring in big name QBs to help recruit.

frick off with this. LSU is bigger than the current coach to former players and alums who give a shite. Only bandwagons and casuals act like people on tRant when it matters.
Both would absolutely help recruit a player if asked, especially Daniels being so recent and tied to the current staff. Some of the recruiting reporters insinuated that Daniels had some level of communication with Underwood, likely earlier on before his comment.

This is just objectively false. The talent at WR, while not at our usual standard, is STILL far better than Michigan’s. And their class isn’t fixing that, even with Meadows, who has had a poor senior season. Same at RB when you put Durham with this current incoming class.
The bigger key is the system. Even with better talent, their coaches and offenses aren’t changing and we know what they look like. They will never be able to fully showcase a dual threat QB like Underwood like ours could. Remember the difference in Burrow in Ensminger’s offense vs 2019. That wasn’t all personal development. He was put into a system that showcased and maximized his strengths. We turned him loose.
Complain all you want about Sloan’s play calling- that can easily be helped, changed or replaced in multiple ways. The playbook and overall system here isn’t the issue and we saw that last year. Our offense is built for a guy like Underwood to be the focal point.
If you want to sit here and say Michigan has the same or better path to a high-powered offense as LSU today, then you are either a fricking idiot or buried too deep in your emotions to think straight.

I’m sure they countered that their previous QB McCarthy was drafted without all of the big numbers. But that was with Harbaugh in charge. It’s hard to overlook the immediate massive drop off this season.
Without the money whip, this argument would have had a 0% chance of working.

Nobody gives what they can’t afford to give.
$12 mm over 4 years may be life-changing to the Underwoods, but it’s chump change to Portnoy. He wouldn’t be putting it out there otherwise.
