I’d like to introduce you to 2024 South Carolina and 2024 SMU

South Carolina beat Clemson but lost to the 2 SEC teams ahead of them didn’t they?

SMU was a 1 loss team going into CCG. Had they had any semblance of a real schedule they wouldn’t even be in the playoff, but they avoided every top half ACC team.

Thank you for making my entire argument.

Well done.

Zero benefit to playing a difficult schedule.

The fact we VOLUNTARILY added one of the strongest contenders for the playoffs annually is asinine.

We can’t control the SEC schedule.

We can control OOC

People only see the negatives of these games. Think of how awesome it will be to go to their house and win the game. And think of how awesome Tiger Stadium will be in 2 years when Clemson comes to us. The atmosphere will be incredible

The atmosphere of the playoffs would be better.

No man, I couldn’t understand wtf you were trying to say

Can we stop acting like beating a potential top 10 team has zero effect on how the committee looks at your resume?! That’s just retarded

This is the nonsense I’m talking about. Absolutely asinine. Might even be asi-ten it’s so crazy

If the teams South Carolina weren’t the two immediately ahead of them, they would have had a much better shot at getting in.

SMU didn’t get in because they had an easy OOC schedule, they got in because they played nobody in conference. In fact, they lost to BYU, their toughest OOC opponent.

So if you want us to take the SMU approach we should schedule 1 hard OOC game and then petition the SEC to remove Bama, UGA, Texas, Florida, Auburn, and aTm from our schedule every year?

It doesn’t.

Or else any of the 9-3 SEC teams would be in Last year

So you are an idiot.

Sorry for confusing you with something different

We literally have an example last year of a 9-3 team with a win against Clemson and how it meant nothing.

Every situation, in every year is different. I never once said it GUARANTEED anything, just said that if everything else was equal, and they went to OOC record/SOS, it could potentially help out

Hope that helps

We should take the approach of having the easiest schedule year in year out as possible.

We can’t control the SEC schedule. There will always be enough opportunities to have an acceptable resume in the SEC.

Thus take the Tennessee and ole Miss strategy OOC.

9-3 will never get in over an 11-1 regular season P4 team. Ever. Now had SC not lost to LSU, Ole Miss, and Bama they would have been in.

frick this. As a fan, I’d rather have better games to watch than add yet another divisional school.

I wish we had 2 P4 OOC games every year. It makes the year way more fun. 2011 is the greatest regular season ever with wins over Oregon and WVU. Dominating VT in 2007 was incredible. Whipping Texas in 2019 was our coming out party.

You’re only seeing the negatives of these games and not seeing the overall positive.

So you agree that record matters the most and yet you are actively looking to make it harder to go 10-2.

Not smart

I’m actively looking to make the season more enjoyable. I don’t play for LSU. I attend the games for entertainment. Adding yet another directional school makes the entertainment worse.

I’d rather be in the playoffs than the citrus bowl.

Then we just must agree to disagree. You can argue for a dogshit, easy as pie schedule so that we can maybe get into the playoffs and possibly have 1 good OOC game.

I’ll argue for guaranteeing one good OOC game with the possibility for a bucket list road trip that really doesn’t impact the playoff at all as long as we take care of business in conference play.

Now, if you want to say it should be in week 2 or we have a week 0 tune up? Sure, that’s reasonable. But I like the big OOC games and wish we had more true home and homes with P4 teams.

Until the committee actually shows not all records are created equal I 100% agree with you. They've shown you just need to avoid losing which is dumb.

For the record, I agree with you here.

I’m just saying, it’s not only negatives coming out of this situation.
