Yep. He HAS to keep it on an option at least once or twice a game. Right now the defense doesn't even account for him. It's like playing 11 versus 10. Totally unfair & is why our rushing game was so bad. The defense just all out attacks the RB & no OL can open holes against that.

Only a small piece to that puzzle. The interior OL getting dominated at the point of attack (particularly after Deliinger went down) and the predictability of the play calling was far more detrimental to the run game than Nuss not keeping it once or twice a game. Nuss getting a few five yards keepers is not going to magically open up the rest of the run game. Need improvements in other areas as well.

In fairness to Nuss, maybe the coaching staff was against him running last year due to lack of depth at QB. I think this year the mindset has to change, whether it was his own doing or the coaching staff.

Help me understand how Nuss is going to be better after the O-line was just gutted? What was it again, four guys we lost?
Most of the season spent without a true deep threat. At the end of the season with Hilton back he finished the last 3 games with 8 TDs, 1 INT and over 70% compl and 300+ per game. LSU also adds Barion Brown one of the fastest WRs in CFB.
Added size at receiver. Nic Anderson 6'4 and new starter Treydez Green at 6'7. Anderson was the TD and yards leader for OU in 23'. Bauer Sharp was the OU leading receiver in 24'.
2nd year of Caden Durham to bolster the run game. He dislocated multiple toes in game 4 and played with a plate in his shoe. Back healthy and with experience, he should have a solid season. Berry, 5 star RB is a great player in space and can be a receiving threat.
2nd year as a starter for Nuss so the game should slow down.
2nd year as a play caller for Sloan.
Top receiver Anderson returns.
That's what I have.

I wonder if Nuss has been limited by the O-coordinator's play calling. He seems highly overrated. Maybe they'll open it up like Jayden's final year.
Hard for any OC to call plays when you literally couldn’t run the ball most of the season and had no deep threat.
We saw the offense open up the last few games when we actually could run and Hilton was burning people over the top. Last year was arguably the worst WR room we’ve had at LSU in a long time.

Poor decisions deeper into his reads.
This is where his lack of starting experience came out last season. He was impatient sometimes when he had to go to his 2nd or 3rd read.

Inaccurate on long balls.
He wasn't inaccurate. He didn't have a receiver that could make separation a lot of the season. Then when Hilton did come back it took a couple of games for them to get the timing down. Last 2 games of the season he was on point with Hilton.

Seemed immature at times.
You should explain this, not sure what you are seeing.

And now that i really think about it, he acts in haste(throws ints) when he is pressured.
List the QB's that do not do this?

They said his check down accuracy was the only real issue. They did agree that at times he could be tricked but they said every QB gets tricked from time to time. That most of the time he was a good processor, he just needs to realize the situation of when to take a chance or when to make the safe play. And that was a very minor issue when you look at the amount of times he dropped back.

Inaccurate on long balls.
They didn’t mention this at all. They said he throws 55-60yards with enough ease. May not be able to uncork it 70+ yards but it’s not necessary when you have a quick release and have as much anticipation as Nuss does. Said he is in the top 1 percentile of anticipation.
2 main takeaways is that he needs to realize the situation more often and not out the ball in danger when your up like against A&M. Also needs to tuck and run more often. They think just running a bit could open up his game.
They also made sure to mention that he’s not a statue that lacks athleticism. He has a lot of sudden movement skills that he uses in the locket extremely well. He just needs to apply that athleticism to running when it’s open.

It was reminicent of 2017. DJ Chark and Russell Gage for sure. I think the next 3 were Stephen Sullivan, Dee Anderson, and the other tall fast guy that beat his GF (can't recall his name).

As far as the long ball, maybe he has gotten better at it if what they said is not a worry or maybe its projection. It was an issue last year. Now I wasn't speaking of his arm strength, im talking about timing and hitting the reciever deep on time to the arm's radius. Hopefully it has improved.
Agree 100% percent about knowing when to take off. JD5 from 1st yr to his last yr was night and day and just knew what to do with the ball when he needed to run. I'm not saying nuss should replicate jd5 but like you said, know when to tuck and run. A solid running game will help him tremendously this season if we can be a threat running wise. Last year he was like an "I" qb in the spread. If LSU is running the spread, he needs to be a spread qb. Jmo 2 cents.

Tbh, I didn't watch it. I made my own evaluation based off what I saw all of last year.
The expectations surrounding Nuss last year were significantly higher than when Burrow and JD5 first became the starter for LSU and he performed better than those two as a first year starter.
I think people forget how much someone improves from year 1 to year 2 and how much someone usually struggles in their first year as a starter and for the most part he had a very good season. He had a really bad half against A&M that really kind of derailed what could have been an excellent season.
