Is Pearson batting better against lefties? He is a lefty, too.
His average was better against lefties than righties.

Moving Curiel down assures he will see the lefty at most twice. Good move
And then when they change pitchers and it’s a righty? It assures he’ll see fewer at bats from that guy. And ensures guys who are far inferior hitters than he will get more at bats.
It may work out, to be sure. But this is like the shite Dave Roberts would do in the World Series when he would sit his best hitters all year to play a matchup. You hit your best hitters and want them to have the most at bats possible regardless of matchup.
You play matchups with your less able hitters.

I don't care for this lineup. Pearson and Curiel should be reversed, at the least

Brown will replace Pearson if they got to a righty

I think Jay believes this is a lineup to give them their best shot at runs early and give Kade a lead.

That’s fine, but Brown ain’t near the hitter Curiel is. Curiel should not be seeing fewer at bats than the combination of Pearson and Brown.

Nothing is ever perfect, but It does give Curiel the opportunity to drive some runners in assuming a righty comes in.
Hopefully we see a base clearing double from Curiel.

I could get behind that lineup

If you listen to any of the players interviews post games, or with mic’d up, you’d have an understanding that the players on this years team are unselfish and accept their role to help the team win each day, even if its a different role from game to game. All of these guys are team first

Dickenson and Pearson IMHO

Which is great. However, having a guy who was a top hitter on your team at the leadoff spot all year long be bumped way down in the lineup for a senior who frankly struggled to even get at bats this season and who isn’t a good hitter to begin with seems dumb in my opinion.
Let me ask you this, crucial point of the game with a lefty on the mound, do you really want Josh Pearson hitting or do you want Derek Curiel hitting? Hell, crucial point of the game with anyone on the mound.
I’d want Curiel to have as many plate appearances as possible.
He gets on base more, he hits balls harder, and strikes out less.

Pearson hit Prager really good (3 for 3) in the first game of the A&M series so maybe CJJ sees some similarities between the two pitchers. Or maybe he is just going with a gut feeling.
Either way CJJ hasn’t given us too many reasons to not trust him.
The season avg says that Pearson is due

Don’t know what Pearson has done lately to be batting first. I trust the short tinkering man tho
I think he wants that spot to be able to pinch hit later as well.
He figures Pearson might give a better a better AB versus the lefty starter and then he can go to Brown there once they bring in a reliever. Or use the spot for other matchups?

frick that do that shite further down in the lineup.

Maybe we just trust the coach who knows his team better than any of us do.
Heck, maybe Pearson and Curiel are both motivated by their spots in the lineup and both have big days.
It's LSU, at home, in a huge game. Good things tend to happen.

I want the guy who has shown up time and time again in big moments in the postseason. Give me old man Pearson.
