Today was the worst basketball officiating I have ever seen at any level

Obviously a great game and a great win for the Tigers.
Today I saw a Tennessee player with the ball and both feet out of bounds. No call.
I saw a Tennessee player throw the ball 15’ in the air and move over several feet and catch the ball. No call.
I don’t believe the refs were biased. They were just awful at their jobs.

You haven’t watched much college basketball the Houston game was abysmal

It was pretty bad, but I thought it was fair both ways TBH. Many on here will only look at plays where the UT guy lost the ball without an LSU player touching it and then he catches it. Clearly travel. But there were some calls UT had on fouls that they let go. Same for Smart in the lane towards the end of the game.

This wasn’t even the worst officiated game this year. There was at least one game with a foul for nearly every minute of game time.

I will probably he lambasted for comparing hs basketball to division 1 basketball, but, if you truly want to see atrocious referees, go watch a hs basketball game!

Definitely far from the worst I've ever seen.
The reviews and amount of time taken for each were the biggest problem IMO, and this game wasn't unique in that regard.
I thought Wischusen and Vitale were absolutely right to criticize the reviews, and call for the NCAA to re-evaluate how those are handled in the future.

I have certainly never seen nearly that many reviews in any type of game. Other than the retarded delays to confirm what had already been called. I thought it was alright.

I get so weary of people complaining about the refs. Stop looking at things only through P&G glasses. Every team could complain about calls in every game in every sport.
Yes, some calls are terrible and go against us, but our opponents could say the same thing.
And remember we were the recipient of an incorrect no-call that won the game against UK.
Bitching about calls is immature.

At least they were consistent.
Consistently stopping the entire flow of game to review every call they made today.
Found it ironic that they stopped to look at so many things today but they couldn’t look at an actual scoring play at end of the Kentucky game.
One review was to see about possession. What made that one circumstance different than the few others that were very hard to tell real time? They reviewed the blocking foul on the Tennessee player inside the restricted zone. What if he was outside of the arc? They gonna reverse it to a charge on Mays? We gonna start reviewing every foul call?
Vitale may annoy some folks, but I agreed 100% on his rants about going to the monitor. If we’re questioning so many calls, what’s the point of having a ref in the first place?
Btw, pretty sure most of the reviews stood as called on the court

They were pretty much par for the course. The reviews were annoying

I know it was bad with all the stoppages.
But it may have bought needed rest in light of not having Tremont.
Other than that it was Turrible.

Having to review every possession under 2 minutes is ridiculous. Just showing your stupidity as an official

Uh no

Dude they made a (correct) call knowing it was virtually giving us the W. Go away.
Posted on 2/23/19 at 7:01 pm to TheHarahanian
I saw a UT player hop twice on one foot trying to keep from going out of bounds
No call
No call

why was admiral scofield allowed to stay in the game after they stopped play and waited for him to get off his arse and get back down court?

That honestly crossed my mind. But it also crossed my mind that the length of a couple of those reviews would freeze Mays and Smart for their FTs.
To be fair, my mind must've processed a thousand different scenarios as I nervously paced around my apartment during the game.

This made no sense. They stopped a 5 on 4 advantage for LSU, then allowed the injured player that stopped the advantage to stay in the game. Don’t think I’ve ever seen that. Why wouldn’t every player that hits the ground just grab his knee for a second to stop the advantage if this is what happens?
I watched most of this game in awe at how clueless these refs came off. There was a stretch were it seemed the Vols got fouled every time they had the ball. The ball flying in the air and being caught by the same player is as clear a call as it gets. The play mentioned in the quote.
There was a play at the end of regulation I think where Smart blatantly picked up his pivot foot and walked before dribbling. I mean it was an incredibly dumb thing Smart did, but refs completely missed it. It was bad because at this point literally all eyes were on Smart. He was isolated near half court about to run a play. Still missed it. These refs were bad.
