No hitters are just a part of baseball.

An extremely rare part of baseball. Aluminum bats make it even more rare than in the major leagues. As far as I understand it it is so rare that LSU has never had anyone throw a no-hitter against it.

Hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do in any sport.

In three games this weekend LSU batters walked 8 times and struck out 34 times. That is also, just baseball.

Time to move on from him. This is Les Miles all the way. He won’t achieve success elsewhere once he is gone

It's still the college level though. We are hitting something like .230 as a team? I don't even know the stats, so I am asking.

I would like to see SEC team hitting stats versus ours right now.

This is not even debatable. Hitting on that level is the hardest act/movement in all of athletics.

These morons down voted that. Shows you somebody has never played high level baseball.

Legit question, how many programs actually do this?

It's stupid.
And everybody knows it.
Chicken Little s, Negamorons & those suffering Catastrophe Syndrome are on a mission to fire a coach.
Member how they all wanted to fire O? I do.
But they're such huge "fans" proud to run a coach out.

I don't see it as supporting Mainieri. I've seen too many teams start slow and finish well in my lifetime to just punt on the season now. Just last year the Rant gave up on the basketball team in November. They went on to win the SEC and get to the Sweet 16.

If we were undefeated right now, it would be the same thing. Baseball seasons aren't won or lost in February or March. Freaking out now is pointless.

You're better than this BS you typed.

No, it’s very different. College baseball is unique in that the best players go directly to the pros. It’s the only sport in which a recruiting advantage can turn into a disadvantage. LSU has had, and still has, a recruiting advantage over most schools. But if they try to take advantage of it they lose signees to the pros.

Mainieri’s relative lack of success is due to talent shortfalls. He is an elite coach. That’s not the Miles situation at all. LSU baseball is limited by the crazy draft rules, and the timing of the draft, as well as the limits on coaches. In football we can overpower all but about 10 schools with our coaching budget. In baseball we can’t. And it’s made worse by the fact that Mainieri just doesn't want to work hard. We should not have given him that guaranteed extension. Now we’re stuck with it.
