Being charismatic is not in the job description for a head coach. Saban has the charisma of a wooden fence.

Aranda has high standard and attention to detail, which something a head coach needs. He is a bright mind. Risky hire? Yes. But ironically less risky than hiring the worst coach in Ole Miss history.

If by some miracle, Ensminger wants to run a fast paced offense, another "power" struggle will take place.

Agreed!

Disagree. How did that work out for Oklahoma, Georgia, UCF this past year?

There's a lot more teams that have been bit by it than teams that it's worked for. I'm just saying, in general this program should be able to go out and hire the best.

I'd love to have a defense minded HC. I feel like he'd try to find an OC that could beat his intellect on defense.

As to why I'd take him? He strikes me as an extremely detail oriented individual who is serious about his position. I also get no inkling of pride from him. Which is what destroyed Les and is in the process of destroying O (again).

That same argument can be made for coaches that have been successful in some places yet fail horribly in their next stop.

IKR

Give me a sharp x and o coordinator as HC

All three of those guys are that

Smart coordinators

O has never been a successful HC or even coordinator. He may have split coordinating one season?

Aranda is good enough you consider making him HC just to keep him here

You're right, it's an imperfect system. But personally I would prefer one of the up and comers over Aranda.

Also, he's young and we could catch him on the upswing in his career.
so we can get him ready for the NFL?

Does he want to be the head coach of LSU?

Aranda is intelligent, focused and organized. He pays attention to detail. That helps him as an excellent DC.
Does anybody on here think that is all that is required to be a championship HC?
And enough with experiments and using the choice of Orgeron as the measure of quality. The next choice needs to be handled responsibly.

Someone is going to pick him up as a HC and he is going to be awesome and we will have missed out on that which is right under our nose.

and would actually let a big time OC do his job.

Weren’t there rumors that he was trying to input what Canada should or shouldn’t be doing on offense based on set up of his defense already?

I agree about Aranda. Kiffin or Fleck for me!
why would anyone want Kiffin as a HC?

He failed at TN, failed at USC.

if he left LSU for the NFL it would mean he was highly successful at LSU. I'm fine with that.

So if we are not going to find a PROVEN successful head coach

Prove successful coaches have changed jobs and failed.

Also, coordinators who were not "proven head coaches" have taken big time jobs and won. Just look at Jimbo, his fist HC job was Florida State and he won a NC. And look at Kirby Smart. A lot of people on this board laughed at that hire and said he wasn't really a coach at Bama because Nick coached the defense. Well, in his second year at his FIRST head coach gig, he was one play away from beating Nick for a national title.

Point is, being "proven" is often overrated when it comes to hiring a guy.

He just seems to have “it” to me. That’s fine if others don’t agree. Just seems like an extremely prepared and very intelligent coach. I also feel he’d go grab a young guy who would modernize our offense with the resources lsu would give him to work with.

There are a ton of young hotshot offensive guys out there. Not as many defensive minds. He’d be my first choice as HC and I wanted him when we hired O.
