Exactly. I was saying all of this when we got Rivers as well. It is something he is going to have to overcome. When most on here talk about it being a positive and a strength. Its not his fault and certainly not anything he can control..

Even if he is 6'7" (he's not), you are projecting what guys that size have done in the NFL. The college game has been more forgiving. Evidence is where they were actually drafted into the NFL.

Joe Flacco 1st Rd
Paxton Lynch 1st Rd
Brock Osweiler 2nd Rd
Ryan Mallet 3rd Rd
Mike Glennon 3rd Rd

Were all measured at 6'7". Good college QBs.

You can tell he already lost a bunch of weight
He looks like he is throwing a better ball

It's only going to help him, that people are already giving the backup job to max johnson

Not going to dog him just to be "right." If he wants to compete, that's how you improve. Half the battle is in the competitive nature of the individual.

My guess is that he has seen Finley play more than most of you combined

Nice flop! Someone else verified dude has been talking shite and then you defend it by assuming dude has watched him play a few times (as if that makes it okay for him to talk shite about the kid anyway)

Rooting for him. Always thought Johnson would be the next man after Brennan, because Finley looked like so much of a project coming out of high school, but if he can be coached up, look out. He's Ben Roethlisberger physical traits wise.

Exactly, Kyler Murray is 5'10. I am sure we can all name outliers and exceptions. But there is such a thing as being too tall, same as being too short. That is why they won't say he is over 6'6. Hopefully he is able to overcome it and maybe he is done growing.

It's an odd thing that nobody seems concerned about, when everyone should know the numbers. It's no different than everybody knowing that Brennan was too skinny or Lindsey Scott too short. Unfortunately physical stature matters and means something..

Paxton Lynch 6'7 244 Memphis
2014 63% 3031 pass yards 22 TD 9 int 321 rush yards 13 TD
2015 67% 3776 pass yards 28 TD 4 int 239 rush yards 3 TD

Brock Osweiler 6'7 240 Arizona St
2011 63% 4036 pass yards 26 TD 13 int 90 rush yards 3 TD

Chase Litton 6'6 232 Marshall
2015-2017 34 starts out of possible 39 games
61% 8335 pass yards 72 TD 31 int

Justin Herbert 6'6 232 Oregon
2018 59% 3151 pass yards 29 TD 8 int 166 rush yards 2 TD
2019 67% 3471 pass yards 32 TD 6 int 4 rush TD

Jacob Eason 6'6 231 Washington
2019 64% 3132 pass yards 23 TD 8 int

Outside of Osweiler, every other guy has been producing at the college level over the last 6 years.

If he studies hard and puts in the work and stays focused, he could be better than Herbert statistically.

Physically he looks great. Footwork has always been his big issue, so dropping weight will certainly help him move better.

Yep and Mahomes had footwork problems that carried into the NFL, yet he was downright ridiculous in college.

I can see this kid putting up big passing numbers in this new offense. T.J has a big time arm and all he has to do is just get the ball to his playmakers which I think he will be very good at. With a great arm like that, he really dont have to do much but play pitch and catch. Boutte, Jenkins, Palmer and company is going to love him.

The issue with big QBs is their footwork.

Lynch, Litton, Eason and Osweiler were all in the 4.8-4.9 range.

Herbert is an intriguing prospect because he is not just big but also quick. Ran in the 4.6 range.

Finley is reported to be a "4.85" but I would not be shocked to see it really be a 5.0-5.1.

The good news is that he does appear to have stopped growing. He was 6'6 as a HS sophomore. So he will have time to develop into his body.
