It looks like he has trouble with his vision also. He is always squinting! Maybe some contacts or glasses, with a better attitude, he can have better opportunities at the Plate.

Reid is batting .188 and that is in all non-conf competition for the most part. That is the issue with just wanting to bench everybody. Usually, the guy that is already on the bench isnt as good. Hence, why he was on the bench

I would much rather struggle early in the season with hitting than late! Baseball is such a streaky sport, like a roller coaster at times with slumps and runs. It might be a good idea to bring the Possum out early this year............

Our 1 & 2 hole hitters, Cole Freeman & Lil Sweet, are a combined 10 of their last 66 at bats. Our team is struggling right now....We will turn this losing skid around but it starts w/ these 2 leaders!

Slaughter's batting stance and weight shift wouldn't fly with my son's batting coach.

May be we can hire him as hitting coach. I'm sure that a child's hitting coach could really turn his game around

I agree with the switch for Slaughter. He just doesn't have the experience he needs to be a good SEC first baseman. Time to put Reid in. Watson is doing decent but could improve some

Freeman, Kramer, Duplantis and Deichmann are a combined 11-86 over this five game funk....that's a .128 clip. Aren't going to score too many runs with the top of your line up hitting like that.

No but he can get spot starts and work in practice and next offseason to improve his game at first and be a possible starter next year.

Its not that he has done bad he has just had timely errors that have put runners in scoring position. Now one error last night was on Lange but the other that advanced a runner to 2nd with no outs hurt us. I just feel like an older and more experienced Reid from last season could mentor him and help him improve.

how many bad throws do you think he has saved at this point in the season?

He's the best defensive first baseman LSU has had under Mainieri, and that includes Blake Dean.

Jake has probably saved us from making no fewer than a dozen throwing errors.

The play he made last night when Papierski tried to throw behind the runner at first while Slaughter was playing off the bag and he leaped to catch the ball and reached down to tag the runner while in the air straddling the runner was spectacular.

Don't know I just think that more of them would be saved with someone at first with a little bit more experience under his belt.

People keep saying this, but the opposite is true.

It'll be a short season with us sitting at home early.

I mean I'm not saying let's just pull Slaughter off the field but lets experiment a little with our lineup. It couldn't hurt seeing as how we have been hitting lately.

Reid has only had 16 at bats. You can't look at a small sample size and say he's not any good. He hit .287 last year.
If you want to look at small samples then Kramer is 1 for his last 25. Is Kramer a .040 hitter?

What player on the team has more college experience than Slaughter playing first base?

Uh... what? Playing defense is playing defense. It's not like the throws from the infield are suddenly different during SEC play. And he had two diving plays last night to save hits. This is seriously one of the dumbest things I've ever read on the rant from someone who seems to be serious.
