Uh... what? Playing defense is playing defense. It's not like the throws from the infield are suddenly different during SEC play. And he had two diving plays last night to save hits. This is seriously one of the dumbest things I've ever read on the rant from someone who seems to be serious.

Yes. Pap should not have thrown the ball after struggling to get it out of his mitt. Was it catchable? Probably but the runner was right on him in-line with the throw. The only thinG's I have seen Slaughter struggle with is bad short hop throws which are unpredictable. He has made a lot of stops others can't make. Red would be putting a short guy with limited ranget back on 1B, don't see it as an upgrade at all.

No but he can get spot starts and work in practice and next offseason to improve his game at first and be a possible starter next year.

Hard to improve on a 1.000 fielding percentage. He isn't doing great at the plate, but talking about his defense needing improving is laughable.

What player on the team has more college experience than Slaughter playing first base?

Deichmann

Don't know I just think that more of them would be saved with someone at first with a little bit more experience under his belt.
Ddue Slaughter is 20x the defensive first baseman that Reid is.

Slaughter had been damn impressive at fist

He acts like a child after most Ks.

This is why he never made it at West Monroe High School. Rumor was he got put on the varsity summer team coming into freshman year, and was literally coming in the dugout crying at times. Didn't fly with the HC at the time, and Slaughter soon transferred to OCS.

The few guys posting that have proven with their "solutions" to who should play first that they have no clue what so ever.

Not sure why this has down votes. It's so true, it's sad.

The vets in the lineup aren't getting it done. Slaughter and Watson should be expected to struggle. First time seeing SEC pitching.

Their struggles are magnified because the top 4 in the lineup can't get a hit over the past two weekends.

Whole team is in a funk. Its baseball. It happens. If you don't think this happens then you've never played baseball.

So a kid who just finished the 8th grade cried at a baseball game

BFD

He went on to OCS and became one of the best players in the state.

A kid that's almost 16 and entering high school and has been given the opportunity to play varsity, is crying after every K or pop up in the dugout? Yes. That's a big deal. Yeah he went to ocs and was great. Yes he took the easy way out instead of nutting up.

People say he's acting like a child after k's in college, I was just explain that this is nothing new.
