Can anyone tell me why Thompson is still playing at short. This is the worst LSU defense I have ever seen and Thompson may be the worst SS ever to play at LSU. He has horrible footwork and cost us games. Has 8 errors and this doesn't count all the infield so called hits that are recorded that almost every SS we have played would have easily gotten the out. No way we are going to Omaha with him at short.

And who do we have to replace him?

Everyone agrees with you but we honestly don’t have another shortstop

It won’t happen this year. Maybe a stud freshman comes along to bump him to 2nd next year.

Thompson is the Rant’s Princess Diana. Anyone who said anything in the off-season got smoked.

Thompson is easily our best option at SS. Sure, he needs more consistency, but no one else on the roster can make the plays he can, or produce on offense.

There’s no better option. It’s the reason no one in this thread has named a better option.

Put Bianco there, then you’ll see why Thompson is there.

If Connor Simon wasn’t injured I’d give him a shot

Unfortunately we’re stuck with E6 for the time being

Problem is that last year Thompson was raw but athletic. You could see if he could reign in in he could be a really good SS. That's still true, but so far he looks the same as last year. I think most assumed he would improve, but thus far he hasn't shown any improvement.

I don't know that we have any better options at SS, unfortunately. I'm open to alternatives but I think we're pretty much tied to him for now. I would definitely say we need to look at recruiting a SS or looking for a transfer for next year. I still think Thompson has the ability to turn it around, but we need to have some kind of contingency plan.

Let’s put Berry at short stop. Maybe nobody will hit it to him there

What would Pawl do with his SS? I mean isn’t this the SAME GUY AS LAST YEAR?
Some coaches want to let their players play through their slump wether it is fielding or hitting. It is all about the average. Thompson needs a day off for motivation.

I don’t think Bianco is a complete disaster defensively. He won’t have the range of Thompson. His bat unfortunately leaves much to be desired.

Thompson is probably the best option. He certainly not alone in the mistakes anyway. Crews is probably the only position player that hasn’t made multiple ugly plays this season. This poor defense is a team effort.

Conner Simon was the number one recruit in Louisiana last year. Maybe he should get a shot.

I'm sure someone can. Just not anyone on this board.
