Playing Raph in LF certainly won't hold the team back, but it could potentially keep us from reaching our full potential in becoming a complete outfield.

Yep. Last year in the Super I think we all saw the value of an athletic OF. Of course this can only happen if some combination of the players contending for the OF positions can hit.

What's the word on Sciambra, is he back in the mix? I didn't keep up with fall practice like I should have.

He's certainly back in the mix.

Yes. He and Stevenson, Laird and McMullen appear to be vying for the CF and RF spots.

Sciambra should be one of the leading canidates for the CF position this spring.

Basically you have Katz, Rhymes, Ross, Jones, Bregman, Moore, McMullen, Stevenson, Laird, Chinea, Sciambra, and Ibarra fighting for big time innings and a starting spot come the end of this month.

Not even counting likely backups such as Edward, Foster, and Yocom, this 13' team is the deepest lineup since the 09' squad in terms of depth.

Although Mainieri probably has an idea of where he wants everyone...the lineup's going to shakeup in spring practice as it does every year.

Biggest thing that jumps out this year is team speed and athleticism. Guys like McMullen, Jones, Stevenson, Laird, Sciambra all would steal 15+ bases given a full year of play.

Good to know, I'm still in basketball mode, but once baseball gets a bit closer I'll split my time. Some of the best athletic days are the ones where you get a basketball/baseball double header. Makes for a very fun day

Welcome. Please don't let some of posters bother you if they are critical of the players--your son included. I hope your son has a great year and gets nothing but praise on here, but there are always some rantards that will bash players. Just ignore them and enjoy the ride!

I know you can't help it, but don't even try to figure out what Coach is going to do. He plays head games with many players--it is just his style of coaching.

probably a good thing. Competition will bring out the best in each player.

a lot of the "older" guys had chances last year, and they didn't really grab them. So it's wide open. Should be fun.

is your son the kid from Barbe? Butler? Very talented if so. looking forward to watching him

Okay, this thread officially has me excited for baseball... Hopefully the hoops team can keep up their winning ways and make this spring a lot of fun

He comes into a pitching staff that has a lot of options. He has his work cut out for him.

He's going to get some real coaching from Dunn. Alan Dunn was a great hire.
