Man with all due respect to the people in this thread, I'm so sick and tired of every thread being the same lately

Yes, everyone in America who follows college football knows that LSU is loaded on defense.. Everyone knows that if BH can play just a little above mediocre and we stay healthy on defense we will win a championship.. Everyone knows this. It's been said 842 times in the past few months and no matter what the thread's original intentions are, it always ends up being the same conversation

I'm not complaining, I'm just saying

I'm cautious of the defense more than offense. New scheme, new positions for most players, not a lot of depth at LB after the starting 4. I'm not saying it's gonna be a disaster, but it may not be Lights Out as we expect it to be during the First Quarter of the season

Apparently he's doing SEC Nation as well, he said this on the preview show last night

And if we get improved defensive interior play. BH is not the reason we lost three last year.

True, but lack of a passing game was a huge factor.

We have one receiver that can catch anything thrown to him. Dural's hands are incredibly sketchy

D White says "what's up".

With monster at nose and improved tackles, our backers will flourish. Even the young ones.

Why did LSU have one on the worst passing offenses in the nation last year?
(Ranked 101st in completion percentage)
O-line? Receivers? Something was wrong there.

Yep. And next year it is just as bad. We have four inside linebackers to play two positions. Three have experience. Next year we will only have two with experience. That will be scary.

I'm confident that if BH had an injury early on, we'd be fine at the qb position with the transfer senior. He has experience and has had enough time to grasp all aspects.

Ehhh.... I agree 100% that the depth at LB could potentially be an issue should injuries happen. I do feel that with Aranda's scheme, he would have enough pieces to move personnel around to make it work. I also think that our team has the potential offensively and defensively to make up for a loss at LB and still be elite... Just my opinion

Special teams need to earn that name.

shite, yea I forgot about ST... Special Teams would be more of a risk area than losing KB at LB, IMO.

He can, but if he isn't allowed to get better during games because he's only allowed to throw a mere 15-20 times a game that are sandwiched in between 5 straight runs, then he won't be "mediocre". You can't expect to have a great passing game if your QB and receivers aren't allowed to develop any rhythm. You can't expect BH to hand off so much, yet execute the very few times he does throw. Besides, based on history its pretty damn obvious when LSU is going to run or throw. You see a change of personnel in the backfield, AND you see the big fat TE's come out instead of the leaner receiving TE's.

Dillon Gordon is a guard for the Eagles now...and he was TE at LSU last season....just shows you whats going on.

you have by far the 2 best running backs in the country,

That's not exactly what he said, if you're going to use quotation marks and give Tebow the credit, don't put your own spin on it

Did he say "2 great RBs" or "2 of the best RBs" Fournette is for sure a top 3 RB if not #1, Guice I'm not sure where he'd rank

He said two of the best running backs. If you've seen much of Guice then you know that's accurate. Not chastising you here, just getting on a soapbox, but it always irks me when people discredit the talent or ability of a guy that doesn't start. There are only 11 spots on each side of the ball. Being a backup to a great player and an older player doesn't change the talent a backup possesses. Obviously fournette is going to get the bulk of the carries, doesn't mean Guice isn't a beast too though. Yeldon carried the ball a lot more than Henry when they were sharing a backfield. It happens. Sometimes you get a 1a/1b situation. Bush/White, Williams/Brown, McFadden/ Jones...but those are outliers

And if we can: minimize injuries, limit inevitable breakdowns on key plays, deal with weather factors, execute at a high rate (for example, not every reception that "should" be made, is made, even if you are Jerry Rice) and have some key close calls go our way. The list is much longer but there are a whole lot that goes into winning any championship.
