He also went 39-23 in 2022. Every year Vanderbilt signs elite classes that we could never match with their scholarship advantage but is now evened with NIL.

Kevin O’Sullivan went 29-30 in 2013 and 34-26 in 2019.

I don’t see anyone suggesting those two are in over their heads.

My point is that sometimes things don’t work out for one reason or another, but Jay’s track record has shown he’s going to win a lot at LSU and usually put out a good product. This year is disappointing but not over, and if it’s a failure, just pointing out every great college baseball coach has bad years.

LSU has spoiled, entitled, and ignorant bitch fans….
The last few years have done more damage to their brains than good…

It’s like many forgot why Maineri retired besides physical ailments. We were sputtering as a program, and I doubt he would have gotten the missing portal pieces jay landed to get a national title.

What are you talking about? Every poster on here knows how to replace a Friday starter,a Saturday starter,a 1st baseman, a 2nd baseman,a ss,a center fielder,a right fielder, and a dh in a single off season and dominate.

Delusional. Many more teams care and parity is higher than ever. Plus if Yeskie is the underlying issue, every great coach makes bad hires.

I definitely don’t want Corbin or O’Sullivan as our head coach. O’Sullivan is a major asshoe. Happy to give Jay a chance to right the ship.

This is a conversation reserved for championship coaches.

Were you on this board when there were rumors that LSU was going to hire O’Sullivan? Or when people suggested that we try to steal Corbin from Vandy?

Well they’re idiots because if those two aren’t LSU material then finding a coach worthy of the LSU job would be impossible. There aren’t any coaches available with their resumes and proves the point of the thread.

Not surprising since this is the Rant, but there's been really dumb threads about Jay Johnson lately, like comparing him to Orgeron.

This is a bad year. It is what it is. He won a title for us last year, and I have all the faith this year will be an outlier and we'll continue to be great. His track record still gives me faith.

LSU would compare the prime minister of Malaysia to Ed orgeron so that’s not shocking.

it’s mostly dumb football fans who just started watching in June of last year that are making those crazy comparisons. Most with a brain know Jay will get this fix. You don’t just take a Nevada program who’s been historically bad to a regional, and taking an Arizona program to Multiple trips to Omaha without being a pretty damn good coach.

I think most are upset not because there has been a clear drop-off from last season (which was expected), but because this team is struggling to even be competitive in SEC play. There is a difference between not being dominant like you were last season and routinely getting 10-run ruled. It also gives people a basis to question whether last season was simply the result of players Johnson inherited from a former plus a generational transfer as opposed to a guy who can, on his own, build a consistent championship contender?

I’m not saying the latter is correct. Just that when you burn through so much goodwill so quickly fans start to question why.

I think you're giving our fans too much credit

We are pretty damn respectable the first two games, but I agree that it is unacceptable to be this bad for game three.

I think Jay's track record of building Nevada and being successful at Arizona with his own players absolutely confirms his success at LSU is not strictly because of what he inherited. I seriously, seriously doubt Paul Maineri and a lot of coaches would have put together what he did last season with key additions.

lastly I am not saying Jay doesn't deserve any scrutiny, but some of the shite our fans say is unbelievable.

The truth behind this statement is actually quite comical.

15-13-1 in SEC in 2017

16-14 in sec in 2018

I think that’s a fair standard to hold Jay to. Agreed?
