For a statement win on opening day and move to #1 on both polls while OK and AL played against air this week-end. Probably won't happen, but I do think we get some #1 votes.

Unless a tream struggles against their cupcake opponent, they won't go anywhere. LSU will be #3.

I personally want to go to three, and have us and bama stay 2,3 then play oklahoma for the championsip with oklahoma being number 1.

Has any other team in history started 4 and beaten 3,2, and 1?

Also i knocked on wood a bunch

I figure LSU will have 8 #1 votes in the coaches poll, but we'll probably remain #3.

And that's fine, IMO.

I agree we get some number one votes and probably tighten the distance between us and Bama and OU. But we're still number 3 IMO.

I really don't care if we move at all. I think we proven ourselves this past saturday. play the games and the rest will take care of itself.

I'm OK with them being #3 until we face Alabama unless Alabama loses before then.

Everyone knows that polls are stupid this early in the season. However, if they are going to have the polls, I want LSU as high as they possibly can be. Everyone who says that it doesn't matter what we are ranked is fooling themselves. Being ranked high is quite advantageous. If you lose, you have a much better chance of coming back since you typically do not fall as far. If LSU can be ranked #1 today, it is ignorant to act like that is not a big deal.

I still think the Tigers jump Bama and move to #2. Anti-Sec sentiment will likely keep the Sooners at #1.

We will get votes and possibly move to #2 ahead of Bama. Boise will pull some first place votes as well, which might hurt us

I think the top 2 remain the same and we move to #3. Boise will be #4 and will be very close to LSU for the #3 spot.

No reason for OK and Bama to move at this point.

In this crazy era of the BCS and rankings, there is actually is some intrinsic value in moving to #1 as opposed to staying #3 or even #2. If LSU were to lose a close game as the #1 team, they would probably drop to about #5-#7 depending on who they lost to. Maybe even no lower than #3-#4 if its a true squeaker against a team like Bama. This, as opposed to dropping to #7-#10 if LSU were to lose a close game as the #3 ranked team.

Obviously grasping at straws a little here but it does have some merit when ending up in that 1 or 2 spot at the end of the season is the ultimate goal.

Of course, a 1-loss SEC Champ will be in the NC regardless as long as there is not two other undefeated BCS conference champs.

i dont want to be ranked #1 this early, no no no.... not only is there a HUGE target on your back, but its difficult to remain there from a complacency standpoint when you start getting attention and praise heaped upon you.

I like having a team in the SEC ranked ahead of us. It gives the team a very clear target and goal for which to aim. When youre on top, its tougher to manufacture your next goal on a week to week basis.

Those polls don't win games...the only thing its good for is fans like you..that get a hard on because your team might be ranked one...it only matters at end of the season...play ball, win,..and everything else takes care of itself..PERIOD...

Generally its noonish. The coaches that participate in the USA Today poll must get their votes in by 10 EST.
