I love this part of this week.. This is always when I begin to convince myself all the reasons why the fighting tigers are going to get it done on Saturday.. So far I have that Hooker is only throwing for about 50 yards more than Jayden per game, which is supposed to be the glaring difference in these teams.. I know he’s a great player, but they haven’t seen a defense like this that is going to be playing with so much momentum in front of the craziest fans in football.. BK> Heupel which I hope no one argues.. Their secondary sucks sucks and we aren’t world beaters throwing it, but if there was ever a time to do the damn deal it’s this week.. Tigers 38 Vols 28, I’m ready to ride

If our offense shows pulse and has fixed the slow start… Plus our defense shows up like they have since week 2.

We win this game.

BK is a better HC, I won’t argue that at all. But Heupel is a better offensive mind than the combination of Kelly and Denbrock in 2022.

They’re giving up a lot of yards for sure. But is that because they suck or are they always ahead and their opponents start going away from the running game early and start throwing trying to keep up? I honestly have no idea, but I do know stats need some context.

Hate to break it to you but this is completely inaccurate.
Hooker has thrown for 1193 yards in 4 games. 298 per.
JD has thrown for 915 yards in 5 games. 183 per.
Your math isn’t mathing.

When going through the schedule before the season I though Tennessee would be one of the losses. I pegged this team as an 8-4 group (though I thought they would beat FSU), so there had to be 3 losses outside of Alabama. LSU generally seems to always have one home game where they really don't show up and given the experience at QB for Tennessee I thought this one might be it.

However, if I'm looking for a reason why LSU wins this game, I think it is because the offense finally shows up. LSU has played 12 quarters against P5 competition and there has really only been about 3-4 quarters where the offense hasn't looked inconsistent and largely ineffective. Given the performance on Saturday and Kelly's comments yesterday, I think the staff is fully aware the current approach isn't working and they will make some significant adjustments this week. There is going to be a particular emphasis on taking shots and getting LSU's WR group fully involved at all costs.

I think the change in approach will be a lot like the Florida game last year. Six games in it was clear what LSU was doing wasn't working and they had to make a significant change to the offensive approach. They did...which led to an unexpected win and record setting day for TDP.

Kelly is smart enough to know (1) LSU is unlikely to hold Tennessee's offense down to a significant degree and (2) the offensive approach from the first 5 games isn't going to work. So look for an attack you haven't seen yet from LSU.

Smart $ is giving the points thinking LSU is going to slow start again and be down 17 - 21 points before Daniels completes his 1st pass - a 3 yard out pattern to a WR.

I think Tennessee is believing its press clippings (and ours) and coming in looking ahead to that big Bama game next week. Thinking this is just a tune-up gimme.

Serious upset special. Bet the house and dog.

I like Matt House against Heupel. He will be a star before he leaves LSU.

It’s because they suck

UT beat the dog crap out of two cupcakes like we did. They had to come from behind to beat Pitt on the road. They played a barnburner with UF. Prior to that game AR15 had not thrown a TD pass and was pretty much last in SEC in QBR. He three for 400+ yds and 4 TDs in that game in Knoxville.
UT beat two teams with a pulse by one score or less each. They are not world beaters.

Keys
1) Special Teams - No mistakes, we can't afford them
2) Establish the run
3) Ability to have a threat in the passing game
4) Fast start - We can't go down by multiple scores and expect to win

Our defense will keep us in the game, but the offense has to be able to move the ball and keep the defense fresh. We also have to find a way to show some sort of deep ball threat.

Why do you think our secondary is so good. Did you not see the 4+ times auburn's were running wide open as scoring. even in the second half, auburn had a wide open receiver on a 3rd and 25 successful play.
Our secondary has major problems in coverage and tackling. It is almost as bad our our passing game. Auburn is a bottom SEC team and we struggled against a 3rd team qb. What are you expecting from a top qb and team this week and in the near future? The prognosis is not good!

I agree that the run game is very important this weekend. Tennessee likes to move fast. Their drives, even if they score, are likely to be quick.

Last year, they beat UK 45-42 and had the ball for 10 MINUTES!! If we can get some stops, make their defense be on the field for the majority of the game, we can just pound away in the second half.

As much as I want to see the passing game improve this week, running the ball should be the game plan.
