Freshman men (or whoever pretends to be one) wearing PJ's for the first game, usually Rice or TAMU.

My favorite stadium memory ever was when Mike roared as some opposing team ran by. They all scattered like……..well like a tiger had roared at them!

Band playing instead of piped-in crap.

So, I hear this a lot, but let me give my perspective.

I was in Tiger Band from 1985 to 1989 (played tuba). Great years for the band, certainly. This allowed me to attend the Alumni Band event this past weekend. I did the whole thing: March Down Victory Hill, play in the stands in the first half, and halftime.

Tiger Band plays way more in the stadium now than we did when I was in. It's not even close. They played at least 8-10 unique stands tunes during timeouts without a repeat. When I was in band, we played three, at most. We also didn't play a second-down or third-down cheer. They also have to watch the game closely, since they have to stop playing a cheer once the center puts his hands on the ball. The first half was a work-out.

What has changed is the number and length of the TV timeouts. Back in the late 80s, a game like this would have been on TigerVision and would have had no TV timeouts. This one had at least 5 during the fourth quarter, and every one of them was three-and-a-half minutes long.

Typically this past weekend, the TV timeout would start, Dan Bourne would make some commercial announcement, Tiger Band would play a stands tune, and then the piped-in stuff would start as the TV time-out would close. Depending on the game situation, Tiger Band would then play a cheer (like "GEAUX TIGERS!" if the timeout was after LSU received a punt.)

We can debate all day long about how much piped-in music there should be, what it should be, whether Tiger Band should get much bigger to account for the stadium expansion, etc. I would likely agree with pretty much everything you might say.

Still, I really learned how much more those kids are doing than what we used to do. I was in awe.

GEAUX TIGER BAND!

TIGER BAIT by entire stadium when the opposing team takes the field instead of booing, which is just plain lame and lazy.....led by student section. It used to be that way and was awesome.
Best cheer chant of all time was when the entire stadium would slowly chant GOOOOOOOOOO TIGERS........GOOOOOOOO TIGERS!!!!
Hauntingly slow and my favorite of all time!!
Again, started by student section/cheerleaders
This lazy crap done today is pitiful

Winning.

Don't care what songs are played pregame or during the game, or whether the band plays songs the students want to create chants for.

I just want winners.
