Go ahead and light one up during the game, then your kicked out arse can argue that one too.

You agree to the rules when you walk through the gate.

when the defense is on the field, me and the people around me (EU) yell and scream our butts off, from the sitting position. and it's very loud. but during the auburn and florida games, there was quite a bit of standing.

would "the rest of us" be students who are going to leave at halftime? no thanks.

bullshite. This is obviously NOT what this is about. There is no reason to make a policy statement on common courtesy. If you want courtesy, just say, "please be courteous." This is about giving marshals more power to enforce the whiny, bitching complaints of people who feel it is their God-given right to never have to stand to watch a play before the ball snaps.

Read it again:

quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
POLICY:
LSU encourages fans to be courteous of other fans in
choosing to stand during games. Spontaneous reaction
to plays or significant events is expected and encouraged.
Continued standing during game action when
other fans are sitting is discouraged and will be
addressed by game marshals if complaints from other
fans are reasonable and continuous.

REASON:
Common courtesy dictates that fans should not block
the view of other fans who are seated during game
action.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now I know that my family has had Row K season tickets for over 50 years, and some old douche bags behind me continually complain all season long about me standing up when I do it almost as little as I often can (but I'm sure as hell not going to sit down when people in the rows in front of me are standing).

I do admit to wanting to stand just before seeing most LSU third down plays on offense, and a lot of plays on defense. So what? I'm SUPPOSED to fricking stand.

This new statement will have the effect of giving the bitchiest fans in Tiger Stadium even more reason to run and complain to mommy--err, I mean marshals--who already have a tough enough job as it is dealing with stupid arse complainers.

This is not Purdue University. This is Tiger Stadium. frick y'all.

its because the "old people" in Tiger Stadium complained enough that this is now a policy.

It's not necessarily the old people. It's the casual but affluent newbie social fan who replaced the blue collar guy who finally got priced out of the market. They don't really care about the game, they just want to go for the social event. It's just a natural part of the process of destroying the Tiger Stadium atmosphere by driving the real fans out and bringing in the rich corporate types who simply go there to be seen. 20 years from now, they'll be all that's left in Tiger Stadium, and it will be as quiet and sedate as any NFL stadium.

Being an “old man”, that might just be worth it because I would then have the pleasure of:

I prefer to sit during the games.

This rule is retarded. If someone stands in front of me, I stand up and don't complain about it.

Being at the game instead of watching on tv gives a sense of having an effect on the game. Standing at times, like defensive 3rd or 4th downs make people feel like they are a part of the game. If two people in front of me are standing and everyone else in the section is sitting, I'm gonna keep my mouth and shut up.

Mainly, because those people have just as much of a right to enjoy the game to its fullest extent as I do. I'm not inconvenienced by having to stand. It just really harms my reputation for being lazy.

So, as a sitter who enjoys sitting. This rule is freakin' stupid. And, if a marshal ever comes to me and asks me if someone standing is bothering me, I'm gonna tell him to go f himself and leave the fans alone.

Replace "we don't sit sometimes" with literally anything else, or nothing else, or even leave the statement as is, and it will still always be true. The wave will suck. It does suck. It always has sucked.

Do you understand that they are not going to kick you out if 4 rows of fans are standing in front of you and you stand to watch and then the guy behind you complains? It doesn't work that way. Again, the only people who this will affect will be those who find themselves standing by themselves and repeatedly ignoring the requests of those around them to sit.

Which section do you serve as a marshal in? Because not a damned word of what you said is in any way implied in the written policy, I assume you must have inside information on how it will be enforced. The policy appears intentionally worded to give the marshals virtually unlimited discretion and to encourage the whiny types to complain.

I completely agree with this. Not all, but a lot of the real fans are getting priced out of Football Tickets. This new policy will just give marshals more power and I don't like it one bit.

Somewhat off topic:
I'll never forget last year at the VT game, my senior year at LSU, I was told by a marshal that I could not stand on the bleacher in the STUDENT SECTION because the row behind me was regular season ticket holders. That would have been fine, I could still stand, but they didn't make the 25 or so rows in front of us get off their bleacher seats! I could not believe that he could force us to be completely blocked from seeing the game because of some whiny parents with their kids but he would not force the students in front of us to stand lower. Furthermore, he waited until the team had taken the field and all other seats were taken. I definitely cursed and yelled the entire game in front of those parents and their kids. Yes, it was immature, but I was pissed.

What a load of crap. Your income level doesn't have jack to do with how much you love your team or how much noise you make. Being "blue-collar" doesn't make you any more virtuous than if you shat bars of platinum every morning before breakfast.

I'm "white collar," I'm not ashamed to admit it, and I shouldn't be, either. I've worked hard to get where I am. And I'll also make enough noise in Tiger Stadium to curl your ear hair.

That being said... I stand when the game calls for it and sit when it's appropriate.

I've been hearing this "Tiger Satdium isn't what it used to be" argument lately, and it's not new... people have been saying that for the last 30 years. I think we have an inflated view of what Tiger Stadium "used to be."

I went to school during the Hallman years. Let me tell you how Tiger Stadium "used to be."

1. It was about 1/2 to 3/4 full at the START of the game.

2. Those that were there screamed their fricking heads off, because if you were there... you were hardcore.

3. We lost pretty much every fricking game.

Let's fast-forward to the now-unbearable, "tame" and "old-people and corporate-type-dominated" Tiger Stadium.

1. We have almost 100,000 people in the stadium for every game.

2. National media repeatedly claims it's the loudest stadium in college football.

3. We destroy every team that walks through the gates.

I don't know about you... but you can have the "good old days." I'll take the current scene. It seems pretty obvious that our home field advantage kinda works for us now.

Come back in a few months and tell me if you notice a difference in Tiger Stadium with this "new" policy.

Once againg I love how only "blue collar" fans are good and anyone who has money to buy the tickets now are bad. Does it matter that you may be an alumnus who spent five years at LSU and on your graduation day went to the ticket office to be on the waiting list? No because you are not blue collar screw all the road games you went to, the money you spent while stationed around the country to get back home on weekends to see the game. F that guy he's not a real fan like the drunk a-hole who is standing during the 2nd quater on a slow drive when we are up by 14. I know I will be lit up for this but guess what jackass that old fart has been going to and supporting LSU athlectics probably before your daddy was stain on his mothers matress but thats ok you probably also get upset when somebody ask you not curse around their children. F that guy I paid for my ticket this LSU football not bible camp, blah blah blah. I for one have lost my voice more than once in a season in support of my University and I can say that you see because I do have a real Skin on the wall. Oh and by the way I have had season tickets for 10 years and am 32 so I guess that makes me a band wagon fan, old, lazy, crybaby, and whatever wonderful adjetives you can come up with since you impotent small minded pricks.
