My dad lived there in the 40s. He's 87 now and no lung problems. Guess he was just lucky. I love looking through his old Gumbos.

My grandpa lived there in the late 30's as well - he was in ROTC at LSU before going to West Point.

His room and board was paid for by sweeping the stadium. He lived there with Alex Box - not roommates, but in the same hall.

The dorm rooms are now storage for equipment and sportshop. I spend many hours a week in them, so they are safe. The main gate is usually open during work hours and you won't get told anything unless you act like a tourist.

If I had Bill Gates money, I tear the ugly arse thing down and rebuild a 100,000+ stadium.

Blasphemy!

I wish they really would clean out the dorm rooms and turn them into refurbished dorm rooms or VIP tailgate suites or something.

I don't hate LSU. All I'm saying is if I had Bill Gates money, LSU would have the best athletic facilities in every sport. They'd get brand faciilties in every sport. Football, basketball, tennis, track and field, everything. I'd build about 4 nice parking garages. Then I'd throw a bunch of money at other buildings as well. I'd want LSU to be the best campus in America hands down.

I love Tiger Stadium - although it could use a good renovation.

What is the life span of the bowl part of the stadium? Nothing lasts forever. Anyone know?

To Bill Gates -

Money does not buy happiness, tradition, or history. Tiger Stadium can take a person's breath away. So do places like Lambeau, Wrigley, and Fenway.

The Cowboys and the Redskins stadiums (and stadiums like them) do not.

if i had Bill Gates money I would just spend hundreds of millions renovating the current TS rather than build a new one.

I was part of the engineering inspection team that performed environmental and structural inspections on all of the building on campus in 91-92. I got to do Tiger Stadium and PMAC. It took several months and we saw some amazing things! To say that the dorms have asbestos is like saying Curly Hallman didn't quite work out as the LSU coach...

IMO I just don't see how on earth that place will be ready for the opening game

That's probably why they didn't ask your opinion before they started.

Seriously, it's amazing how those projects come together at the end. No doubt they aren't going to move the home opener!
