"Relax man.. but the fact that he has no offers while playing against MN High school competition kind of makes me lean towards taking Borne or Briscoe"

That Minnesota HS talent you speak of includes Cretin-Durham in St Paul. Notable alums include:
Steve Walsh (won a National Championship as QB at The U)
Chris Weinke (won Heisman in 2000 at FSU)
Corbin Lacina (NFL OL)
Ryan Harris (NFL OL)
Seantrel Henderson (head case, but top recuit in country last year)
Joe Mauer (2001 HS Gatorade player of the year and FSU signee, chose baseball instead)

As far as top shlef talent, MN produces more than thier share. SO don't be so quick to dismiss him just because of where he plays.

By the way, the only reason I keep up with this is because my dad transferred to St Paul about 10 years ago and both my brothers attended HS in St Paul.
Even worse, they have now required the High Schools in Alabama to go to BBCOR bats next season, and I received an email from Dixie Youth Baseball last week stating they would no longer allow composite barrel bats on DYB play. Evidently there was such an uproar DYB came back 3 days later and retracted the ban on composite barrel bats for this season and will re-evaluate it for 2012. The $300 Easton Surge I bought my son to use this season in preparation for trying out for the HS Freshman team next year will not be allowed when he has the opportunity next year.

I have no problem if the governing bodies want to increase safety and use the BBCOR rating system, but the evaluation and adoption process from DYB all the way to college has been a train wreck. They need to decide, and give a 12-24 month phase in period so everyone can understand and plan for it.

You do realize those rooms had/have asbestos in them right?

I was part of the engineering inspection team that performed environmental and structural inspections on all of the building on campus in 91-92. I got to do Tiger Stadium and PMAC. It took several months and we saw some amazing things! To say that the dorms have asbestos is like saying Curly Hallman didn't quite work out as the LSU coach...

If you would have read the article it even says he coached at Shiloh, coached Josh Floyd the current Shiloh head coach, then took over as Springdale High head coach when Jarrell Williams resigned.

Roger that, sorry I just missed it. Damn, I hate it when other people do that too....

Yes. He goes to the school Malzahn was coach at. They still use Malzahns playbook.

Help me out here...everything I can find online says Mahlzan coached at Springdale HS (public school). Frazier attends Shiloh Christian. I understand it's the same town, but it looks like different schools. Gus Mahlzan bio

Not excited about greyshirting Bates, if true.

I dont like to idea of greyshirting at all, you start the next year down a scholarship immediately. The only way I can see it is if you have an incredible in-state group and not enough spots. However if that's the case the player is probably too good to accept a greyshirt anyway, he'll just sign with someone else.

We get pretty offended when a guy decommitts, but that's a little ridiculous.

You must not have been around when McKnight chose USC...I was embarrased by many fellow LSU fans that day. Nothing but hatred
Thanks Chicken...Let's be happy for ALL these kids who will have an opportunity to gain an education, regardless of where they go...we all win in the end! :usa: :geauxtigers:

Mustain hands down...especially considering all the drama with the Springdale parents and the Arkansas athletic department! Pretty much cost Nutt his job, the only one who made out in that deal was Mahlzan.

To compete for titles, you have to get the best talent, then COACH up that talent. If LSU just signs kids from LA, they would not compete for titles.

Very well said...
George Teague who played at Alabama. He made two of my favorite plays of all time: the strip of Lamar Thomas in the 93 Sugar Bowl, blindsided Terrell Owens when Owens ran to midfield and danced on the star.

The Strip- 1993 Sugar Bowl
Owens gets what he deserved...
Just got back from the Senior Bowl practice in Fairhope, AL and watched him a lot. Hard a real hard time on the outside speed rush, a couple of guys kept beating him around the corner. Looks like a guard to me too...

Also watched Harry Coleman and was impressed with how quick his feet were. He was working with DB's and looked pretty good. Charles Scott was there but he wont play. He and Coleman were very generous and signed a lot of autographs for the kids. Ciron looked at us and walked the other way.

Non-LSU guys I noticed: Dexter McCluster is fast as h@#$!!! You see him get the handoff and he disappears behind the linemen, then shoots past into the secondary! QB from West Virgina has a nice arm, lots of zip on the ball; Colin Peek (TE from Alabama) looked terrible! Got manhandled on blocking assignments and dropped 2 passes that I saw. Stephon Johnson from USC had a rough time on picking up blitzes also, feet were way too slow and ended up on his face at least 2 times.

I coach middle school kids and that is nothing more than a good athlete. He is very short and I did not see anything that just stood out that I would say WOW!!! Sorry nothing special there!! He better stay on the books to make something for himself in life.

I agree- my son's travel team played in the Reggie Evans tournament in Pensacola last year in the U11 and U13 groups and I saw kids there from New Orleans and GA that would were much more impressive. Looks like dad is trying to create a sensation...

someone from within the family that might view Miles' job as a "dream job." Besides Karl Dunbar, are there others?

Not that are up to the task of what LSU needs or is capable of. Besides, that thinking that "it needs to be a XXXX man" is what kept Alabama down for so many years instead of going after the best coach. Hearing some of that in the Tennessee comments this week on volnation as well, wanting a TN man who will show loyalty.

Being in Bama at this time is difficult!

Amen! I went to HS here and lived here longer than anywhere else and have listened to all the crap for my entire life and I am utterly incapable of pulling for Alabama. Hate to say it, but I would pull for anyone else including Southern Cal, Notre Dame, Texas, Oklahoma, etc ad naseum....
The look over is a scheme design, which drives me crazy! My son's 12 yr old team runs the same offense as the local HS and they do they same thing. Our players line up, the coaches check the defensive alignment and call the play from the sideline (each player wears a position specific wrist band with all plays numbered). Can't tell you how many times we had a drive going and slowed down for the sideline check and allowed the defense to make adjustments and the drive stalled, leaves very little chance to develop and flow or rhythm...
Bobby Lowder, period.

Going to see how much influence he will have from now on since Colonial Bank went tits up...

Cap One Flyover
I've never understood the catfight between Navy and Airforce aviators...don't they go to the same flight school except for the carrier landing thingy?

must not have been in military huh

I am working on a construction project at Pensacola NAS and they just built a Joint Training Command where USAF and USN pilots will train together. We watched the Blue Angels practice every week (until last month anyway) and have seen numerous F-15s, F-16s and a few A-10s landing at Forrest/ Sherman Field.
