You’re preaching to the choir. Only like 10 people here actually like the coach. But if he cant get it done with $8m, he is even worse than the low bar that has already been set for him. Woody is basically wasting $8m but its not my money…

Just absolutely pathetic

Dude he’s a solid SEC starter, not a game changer. Even on horrible teams he hardly put up gaudy numbers. If anything he was rather inconsistent. You’re of the ilk that seemingly believes he’s a clone of Hakeem Olajuwon. With a healthy Reed maybe we beat smu and maybe we don’t choke away that ole miss game.

This is not true. Our SOS out of conference sucked arse and we lost to two ACC teams that didn’t even make the NCAAT. One of those games we even had our lord and savior Jalen Reed who is apparently the greatest basketball player in LSU history. Not to mention, Alabama has played the majority of this season without Latrell Wrightsell (starter) and Houston Mallette (top transfer). They have made no excuses.

It's not as simple as saying 3 more wins = LSU in the NCAAT.

The best comp is Texas, which was one of the last at large teams included. Texas's reg season record was 17-14 (6-2). That would have been LSU's record too had they won 3 more SEC games. However, (1) Texas won two games in the SECT over Vandy and A&M; and (2) they had a decent NET ranking despite their record.

The counterargument is "well LSU would have had a good NET ranking too had they won 3 more SEC games!" Maybe. But what has often killed LSU NET ranking (along with the losses, of course) is LSU has often been ranked low in the predictive data ratings (KenPom, BPI, etc). That factors into the NET, and those ratings take into account more than just raw W/L data. Even now, despite a better record and more SEC wins, LSU is ranked behind South Carolina in the NET...that is a byproduct of the fact LSU is rating significantly lower than South Carolina in the predictive ratings. Ex. South Carolina is ranked 70 on KenPom. LSU is 89.

Most would argue those two SECT wins helped Texas slide in. So you probably have to factor that into the discussion beyond just 3 more regular season SEC wins. Also, even with 3 more regular season wins its no guarantee LSU's NET ranking would have been as high as Texas's was at the end of this season. Possible? Absolutely. Guaranteed? No.

I'm no fan of what he's done so far here but 8 million if true is a serious investment. We better be in the tournament next year or he's out

My fear is that he will just scrape by to be half way decent but still under 500 in the SEC then Fat Woodward will pound the "Look at the improvement" trail and we will be stuck with him for a few more years

I have never compared Reed to anyone. I have never even said he was an all SEC player. I did expect him to have a breakout year but we'll never know. But he was the most IMPORTANT player on this team. And they beat Ole Miss and Vandy, possibly TAM and Miss St and maybe upset AL and FL with him. And maybe a couple of other games. It isn't just about offense. But to the average basketball fan that is all they know. It was the FL center that turned that game around for them late in the second half. Yes Reed could have made the difference in that game. But he probably gives us 4 more wins at the least and that was all we needed. He pulled the bigs out since he was a decent 3 point shooter which would have opened up the driving lanes. Did you ever notice where the defense sat when Collins or Chest went out there.LOL . And he could take them off the dribble and get to the goal. He could help with the press and take pressure off the guards. It is much more than just scoring and rebounding not to mention he was big and physical enough on defense.

Well I’m a donor and season ticket holder so it is some of my money and the reason I am pissed is this flies in the face of the we can’t afford the buyout lie. $8 million would almost cover the whole buyout and it could have been paid over 4 years.

This is 100% Woodwards ego. He can’t admit that this was a terrible hire.

Move toward the NCAA tournament? IN a league where you just gotta be in the 75% to get in, this shouldnt be a big goal. But I can see it now. 6 SEC wins next year and we are on the right track This NIL cash guarantees us 2 more years of this boredom.

The same Reed that led us to a double digit loss against a .500 Pitt team?

Dude says with Reed we win upwards of 10 more games, many against top 15 teams, and proceeds to call other “fans” irrational and emotional.

I knew giving internet access to mental hospital patients would pay dividends in amusement and laughter.

Maybe all our NIL is going to Jalen Reed since evidently he's gonna be 1992 Shaq when he plays next season.

Idk, this guy boasting about his experience in leadership and how he raised his son not noticing what a horrible leader matt mcmahon has been is rich.

$2 million? Wow no wonder. All this crap about Kentucky going to the sweet sixteen in their first year with a new coach. Promise you they used a hell of a lot more than $2 mill.
