Thoughts on Vandy Game 1

Obviously a win is a win and I am glad to see us get back in the W column in the SEC that's the important thing.

The good: We attacked and scored (bigly) early. Isn't something new to this team maybe as many runs as it was but we have got runs early in several previous SEC games.

RISP hitting was better, putting together multiple good at bats was a big + to me this game.

Guys who had been struggling got some hits.

Holman and Herring were sharp.

The middle ground: I thought we would win by a 10 run rule in the 4th inning when it was 9-1 and that woulda saved one of our better bullpen arms of this year for the next 2. It woulda been a big momentum boost for this team I think if we woulda really opened this game up.

The bad: Errors will happen the baseball team isn't perfect and its apart of the game of baseball but the timing of our errors so far this season have been in the big moments when we can't afford errors. Jay Johnson talked about that this week when it comes to helping the pitcher out. I am not mad at Braswell he has been crushing the ball and having good at bats just wish the errors came in smaller spots.

*Braswell has had two fielding errors this year and both have came in big spots so everyone is calling for his head. ONLY 2 Fielding errors as a SS at game 31 is impressive. (I am not counting throwing errors).*

0 scoring in the middle innings and late in the game is a negative this team has had consistently. Need to keep tacking on runs even 1 or 2 go a long way. Vanderbilt didn't put in their best arms down 9-1 would of liked to see us attack the rag arm they brought in. (We finally got away from 0s in the 8th after a Vanderbilt error.)

Lingering 9th inning 2 Outs last out never seems to come easy for this team.

Overall: we are trending up lets go win a series tomorrow and ride this into Knoxville next weekend.
