Thoughts on this football team of mercenaries we've bought for 2025?

We could possibly have an entire defensive line and defensive backfield of transfers.

We have 2 transfer offensive lineman
And 3 new WRs who will get significant playing time as well as 2 Tight ends.

I'm all for winning but this transfer portal thing is a bit outrageous. I get it, you gotta change with the Tides but LSU was always a proud Louisiana home grown team. Now we've gone out and basically filled half our roster with transfers

All I know is.....this is boom or bust this season. Mostly all these transfers are Seniors or upperclassmen. If we don't make a run at the Title this season I think it's over for BK. His seat is already hot. If he had another 3 loss season after basically buying his team I think he's in some trouble.

Anyways. Always want to see us win and at the end of the day some of these transfers are very talented and I'm excited to see them play in an LSU uniform. But it's basically one and done season for all of them.

Thoughts?

no way we dump him for 3 loss season. every sec team will have at least 2 losses. we aren't eating all that salary knowing we aren't likely to get anyone better. He may not be the best but better coaches don't grow on trees.

3 loss season would be disappointing but BK isnt going anywhere

If we don't make the CFP, he's gone!

He'll either "Voluntarily" retire or be offered a settlement to gtfo a la Shrimpy........

This roster is legit top to bottom.

Team will go as far as the oline and joe sloan will take them.

one,he's not on the warm seat
two, some of the transfers have 2 years left.
three,it's not going to be common to have one loss trams in the sec anymore ,at all. undefeated sec teams won't ever happen.
too many players spread out over too many teams

Sadly 9 & 3 or worse is what will happen. Kelly’s LSU will start out 0 & 1 as usual. Then the SEC gauntlet will give us 2 maybe 3 more losses. But don’t get me wrong other posters here are correct we are indeed stuck with Kelly for quite some time. And I can’t think of anybody that we could get that would do much better than Kelly. So we’re really just fricked as far as championship aspirations. Is what it is.

I agree with you here, but this is just the reality of the landscape of CFB today. There is a very real chance that this could be CBK’s final season at LSU, whether he’s fired or leaves on his own choosing.

The videos and pictures of him having the players over last week was absolutely fake and edited x 10. I run around the lakes and run past his house several times a week, and on that day I remember being surprised by the amount of vehicles in front of his house. As I got closer I saw that he had hired an outside catering company that setup 2 of their own grills across the street from CBK’s house, they cooked all of the food.

Do you think Saban would have players/recruits over for a meal at HIS house, and not be the one to grill a burger or a steak? Do you think Saban would hire someone to bring their own grill to his house to prepare food for his players?

IMO, CBK should be gone if we lose to Clemson and don’t make the playoffs

Pictures were 100% not fake. I was on a walk around the lakes that evening and saw most of the defense playing knock out on the basketball court in his drive way lol. They were having a great time. Looked like it was a crawfish boil/pool party. Whit Weeks was playing as well which is a great sign for his recovery.

Nowadays I don’t even follow college football till the season starts and then find out who is on the team and who the starters are minus the one I already know.
The NIL ruined the old offseason of the college football I loved.
Getting to know players that grew within the system was the awesome part.

Yeah I’m in my 40s and kids will say I’m old but this shite sucks now.

“We’re stuck with Kelly and will finish 9-3 or 9-4, and can’t think of anyone one who would be better than Kelly so we are fricked.” You sound like a ball to be around.

Coach Kelly is doing a great job.

Sit back and watch. Try to enjoy the ride.

Well unlike several around here I’m glass half full on LSU Fighting Tiger Baseball, BUT obviously I’m not high on our football program under Kelly. The schedule’s too tough for Kelly. He’s just not a great enough coach to get us a 10 & 2 and playoff berth. I can’t envision a 9 & 3 finish yielding a playoff berth, although it could happen in a weird season I suppose.

I don't think it. I know it. Fool.

And so what if it was catered or not. Do you think the players care where the food came from?
