Same, I'm 24 and remember hearing Borne's voice the first time I walked into TS nearly 20 years ago. As someone else said, every time I hear his voice it feels like I am home. Nothing like walking into TS no matter how many times you have done it.

Half the posts in this thread will be Dan borne haters.

I have gotten over Dan Borne talking during an LSU field goal attempt that LSU missed in the 2008 bama game. Even though I thought the field goal would have been made if Dan Borne had not distracted the kicker it is time to forgive and forget.

I think Dan Borne had a guest spotter in the booth that night so maybe the guest spotter delaying in getting the information to Dan Borne was the reason Dan Borne kept LSU from winning in regulation by talking during a field goal attempt that was missed.

Dan is great! When I was asked to announce a High School Football game in 2002 I had no clue what I was going to do, but I knew who to call. I got in touch with Dan and he invited me to the press box 4 hours before the start of for the next home game. He help me out with different announcements and gave me lots of good advice. A few years back I attended one of his LHSAA PA announcing clinics. If you are a PA announcer I highly recommend it.

I hope Dan Borne continues to be the voice of Tiger Stadium for a long time.

My story is that I was at the wake of friend's father in Baton Rouge and in walks Dan Borne into the funeral home. My friend's wife turns to me and said "Oh look the Voice of the Tigers is going to do the wake."

don't believe in jinxes but that was BS. I don't care who told him to say it, he said it. The game was FAR from over, Tiger Stadium was celebrating an exciting moment and he just shat all over it.

Jesus

Also, I don't like the video with him as the voice. It was perfect before, and just should have been updated with up to date clips

He's been fine.
He won't replace until he's ready to hang it up.
Franques is probably the best option as he does quality work with baseball that would translate to football and basketball.

Franques has the deep voice but needs to raise the volume a little bit if he's going to do football. He still does that thing where it sounds like he's trying to hold back and it comes across as though he's whispering.

Patrick Wright has sat in entire games for Dan Borne before.

Those of you that have a problem with this man need to take a moral inventory.

This kind of stuff drives me nuts...

Who has a problem with the man? As far as I can tell, everyone here loves the guy!

My issue was allowing/asking him to do the new voice over for the reedited Saturday Night in Death Valley video. It's terrible, both from a fit standpoint AND from an audio production standpoint. It's simply a downgrade from what we had used before.

I love Borne in the booth, and he may very well be a prince among men...but that doesn't mean I have to like the new audio for the video we'll use during pregame and it doesn't mean I need to take a moral inventory. It means I have ears and really liked the first one LSU had produced and would prefer they not frick it up for the sake of change... It's a compliment to both Borne AND LSU that I'd like them not to fix what wasn't broken.

and yes...I'm aware...

There is a difference between being a radio announcer and a public address announcer. One is responsible for calling play by play and the other is not. Dan has a nice voice but does not need to talk during plays.

He is.

Had the pleasure of being one of his first radio interview when he was in college. Announced games for Nicholls.

Yep, and neither is actually as easy as it seems.
