He needed YOU to help him didn't he?

The enthusiasm will come with time, it takes a while to really get excited for a new team. I went through the same process when I started at LSU, since I didn't grow up an LSU fan either. I like what I've heard from Blair so far, though.

I'm trying to get there but just dont care for Blaire's voice, the attempted one liners just seem like he is hoping for a signature bit.

Holy cow! Blair needs a different, more exciting signature exhortation. "Oh my" is pretty lame. Other than that, I like him.

He's started to very subtlety work in "hey now!" Which he did at Ga So. I like him.

He's fantastic. Best hire LSU has made in a long time

My biggest issue with him is that he expresses very little emotion when LSU scores. In basketball especially, if I didn't know the names of the players, I wouldn't have any idea which team was scoring. He also doesn't do a very good job of giving updates on the score.

I think he has done a good job. It's a tough gig replacing Hawthorne, but he has held his own.

Would have been a good idea, yes. Anyone with anything more than an average knowledge of baseball could tell by listening to Hawthorne enough that he didn't really "get" baseball in a lot of ways.

But that's partly why Hawthorne was so bad with baseball and so good with basketball. With baseball, calling exactly where the ball is hit off the bat isn't always easy. Calling a play before an umpire does is just stupid. Chris does a wonderful job with this. Just get it right. It also didn't help that somehow after so many years watching it, Hawthorne still didn't have a clue about baseball in general.

Hawthorne's baseball calls gave me some of the greatest Hawthorne 's. His calls were so wrong all the time.

I like him. I may be in the minority here but I still miss Jim Hawthorne.

Blair seems to have more sports knowledge in general than Hawthorne. I listen to him on the morning radio shows and he analyzes the Bball team in detail, like an ESPN analyst. Don't remember Hawthorne doing that.

I think he's very good. I have to admit, tho, that I do not like his comment "touchdown tigers" every time we score. it just doesn't sound right and grates on me. I wish he would mix it up some. like "and he scores" or "guice takes it all the way". just mix it up so it doesn't sound so forced.

I actually liked his football game calls. Pleasantly surprised at how good he was for his first season.

I don't really listen to the games unless in the vehicle but I agree. No slight to Blair just Hawthorn was there my whole time listening to LSU sports. I hate change.

At least not as much as the average ranter does.

Seriously you people need to get over yourselves.

Since I was a kid, we have only had two Voices of the Tigers- John Ferguson and Jim Hawthorne. For much of that time, few games were on TV so we had no choice but to listen to the radio. Since you are a Tulane fan, I will tell you that I used to enjoy listening to Bruce Miller and Wayne Mack doing the Tulane games. They were so bad it was entertaining.

Hawthorn had a high-pitched voice which easily carried through the noise. Blair sounds like a Major League Baseball announcer on Fox, which means he is ace, but his voice carries poorly for football games.
