I'm scared his line is going to get him hurt. They are TERRIBLE! Burrow had an average 2-3 seconds to get the ball out. Granted, Chargers have a good d-line.

I can tell he had the first game jitters. He made some uncharacteristic mistakes yesterday that I've never seen him make. One of those sacks should have been a throw away. Couple passes way off. The shovel pass

On top of the line being atrocious, his receivers aren't what he had last year. Overall, he just doesn't have enough time.

The Burrow came out in that last drive. That may have been his spark. You can tell when the entire offense goes 100%, they can drive down the field.

Cut the kicker.

We need a Bengals Board.

As pointed out during the game, there is a reason the Bengals had the #1 pick. The long term question is whether the Bengals have what it takes to build a team around him.

How about a professional LSU board to discuss any and all things about LSU professional athletes?

I agree, the o-line needs to be upgraded. For a rookie QB in his first NFL action with no pre-season he did very well. I expect he will continue to get better each week.

How about just an LSU board, where we talk about current and former players/teams/coaches?

Thoughts on Burrow

He had 2 TD throws that were not good. One over throw to a wide open man, the second was one where the WR had to make a play and he didn't.

The pick was bad. But he was pressured immediately a lot.

On that play it was the same. Should have thrown it away tho.

His last two drives were groo thought. He could have easily had 3 TD passes in this game. One over throw, one "drop" and one OPI.

The pass on the OPI play was perfect. Green just couldn't get separation and pushed.

This was actually the 1st one chronologically - and Ross should have caught it. It was perhaps a mild overthrow - but his receiver absolutely should have come down with it.

the lack of preseason games hurts any qb in his first start with a new team let alone a rookie

He’s the only rookie QB to start in probably the hardest season to ever be a rookie. He did pretty well for what he was handed.

Bengals receivers, including Green, would not have started for the Tigers last year.

I bet they'll do something like win 4 out of the last 5 games and look good by the end of the year

You cant do anything to replace reps, and Joe just needs more.

I think it was this. I know he said he wasn't nervous, but at the very least he was outside of his comfort zone. Anything new, even within the same field, takes a little getting used to.

I really think the shovel pass he just missed. It wasn't a bad decision and he would have been a hero had he pushed it a little bit left. It just seemed like he threw it straight to the defender. Same with the AJ Green throw. He probably just got a bit excited.

The Ross throw was a tad far, but Ross has to make a play on that ball. He is an NFL WR and he looked really pedestrian on some plays.

Bengals D played their arse off for as long as they could. It was definitely on the offense more than the defense, and as far as the offense, it was on all of them. Mixon for fumbling, Burrow for the INT, AJ Green for the pushoff, Ross for the drops, the OLine for being a revolving door in the 1st half.

That team has some issues.

For anyone who missed the game or just saw bits and pieces - bobby hart (bengals RT) is probably the worst starting offensive lineman in the entire NFL. Bosa absolutely dusted him all game long. This was born out in the stats--on average, Joe had less time (2.2 sec) to throw than any other QB in the league yesterday.

Highlights/Would-be Highlights: Deep throw to John Ross that was very good but not perfect, hit Ross in the hands but no catch...one or two plays later, deep ball to AJ Green goes long--that one was on Joe...got the offense moving on the second-to-last drive, but bailed out the defense with an ill-advised shovel pass while scrambling, that goes for an INT...down 3, gets the ball back with a little over 2min and 0 time outs remaining, leads them right down the field (8/11 with the only incompletions coming on a drop, a failed sideline toe-tap, and a spike) and throws the winning TD on a perfectly placed out-route to AJ Green that got called back for OPI...kicker misses the chip shot to send the game to OT

That game was very reminiscent of the 2018 Auburn game. He scored early and then was erratic in the middle of the game but pulled it together in crunch time to lead the comeback. Only difference is that his kicker didn't suck at LSU.

He'll rival Mahomes as the best QB in the league in 2 years.
