I noticed it clearly everytime. Was confused what was running thru their heads during those moments.

Milam yes, would have been on 2nd.

Brown doesn't score no matter how fast he scooted around the bases. But still needs to hustle, that we can agree.

In those situations...you leave nothing for chance...with everything on the line you go all out every play. They will learn from it. This wasn't a Nichols st game mid week

I disagree on brown. He is fastest on the team. He loaded from first to second and never sprinted the entire way. He was already off the base and movi g on contact. The ball hung in the air 5.2 seconds. The player then had to reach down and pick it up and evaluate where everyone was....another couple seconds...then would have had to make a perfect strike home to get him.

But now what does it matter.. We brought home the hardware

Because it could be the difference in bringing home the next one. I guarantee Jay Johnson isn’t sitting there thinking “ohhh who cares we won”

Yeah, there were those plays, and in the first game Curiel didn't run out a strikeout pitch to the backstop, and instead just sat there hoping for a foul call (when he didn't come close to touching the ball). I think he would have been safe if he had run. I definitely noticed all of those things. Glad it didn't cost us.

Myself and a few others have a hunch that Milam may have been hurt. That was extremely uncharacteristic of him. He usually hustled around the basepaths more than anyone not named Curiel.
The problem with criticisms like this are that no one knows what’s going on behind the scenes. Many people criticized some of Dickinsons at bats not knowing he was hurt. It’s really time for lsu fans to just sit back and trust that Jay is gonna do the right thing time after time and that includes coaching up players to hustle or not. If you think he’s not paying attention to that and addressing it when it’s appropriate then I don’t know what to tell you.

It is very easy to protect players from criticism if they are injured. Just say they are injured. Guys play through injuries all the time, and most don't keep it a secret. When you don't hustle, you leave the door wide open for criticism, and it is frankly not anyone's job to read the minds of people who are keeping secrets. But if Milam was injured, why has there still been nothing said? Was Jake Brown hurt, too? Was Curiel hurt when he stood in the batters box after a swinging strikeout went to the backstop?

I love all of these players, and I don't think any of this was in character for any of them, but these things nevertheless all happened, and I don't think we need to make excuses for it.

Umpires were completely out of line tossing the 2 CC coaches in game 2

You offer the one line of thought that the color commentators also offered I might add. I for one don't agree with it. You call the game EXACTLY the same way regardless of the score, stage of the game, importance of the game, etc. The NCAA rules are crystal clear...no confusion at all. Basically, you try to argue balls and strikes and you are given a warning. You continue to do so and you are GONE! And the absolute FACTS of what the coaches did are INDISPUTABLE! 'nuff said!

CC had a lack of hustle also. The first batter of the game for them struck out in a curve in the dirt that got away from Hernandez and he didn’t even attempt to go to first. Just simply gave himself up and walked to the dugout.

The entire stadium was in a malaise from the 5th inning onward due to the weather. I imagine that feeling transferred to the field as well. I think everyone was just trying to self-preserve as much as possible to make it to the end of the game. It was brutal.

People that weren’t there truly do not understand how hot it was there. The heat and wind was unbearable.
And no, the wind did not cool things off. The wind felt like it was as hot as the devils breath.

Yeah, I noticed it on MULTIPLE players but sometimes I think it is not a lack of hustle but honestly think the kid doesn't know the ball hit the ground. That is still a problem but is not a lack of hustle but a lack of awareness. But you are correct that for whatever reason, CC was bad at it...it happened more than once.

Yes but I bet it was addressed and called out in game, not after

Season is over and the team won the National Championship there is zero reason to criticize or nitpick the performance of any player. Could any of those plays impacted the games result? Sure, but they did not so no need to create any issues.

When we were playing in heat like that, we used to have a cooler with icy water with either a little ammonia added or eucalyptus oil. You could wipe your face and put your towel over your head or neck and smell the fumes. It was tremendously refreshing and could cool you down pretty fast.

And some of y'all are blinded by being such HOMER fans that you can't admit that there is room for improvement. If you don't think LSU players should hustle on EVERY play, just say so.
