I think Cranford locks down that SS spot, Hughes is done at LSU barring injuries and mis week time

Someone post the the Tyler Moore look at the time rape clock meme.

Wed night 7-10 pm, temp in low 40's and winds from the NW at 17-20 mph. That is exactly the kind of game we usually lose at home midweek.

Thanks, I appreciate that. And, ironically, one of things that I was optimistic about was word that they were taking more precautions with the pitching staff, monitoring them, resting them more, etc. IT was good to start the season without the pitching staff missing key guys due to injury.
That said, we have had little to get excited about so far and that just seemed like an opportunity to ignite some enthusiasm in a ballpark that has been mostly dead so far.
So, in the spirit of the OP, I'm hoping that the threads are about staff dominance, Milazzo continuing to impress, Cranford locking down short and the bats coming alive with good station to station baseball.

The upcoming 4 games will tell us a lot about this years team.
The upcoming 4 games are going to tell us very little about this year's team. How have yall not learned after we go through this every February/March?

With the small sample of ABs that both Cranford and Hughes have had this season. I would say Hughes is better at the plate right now than Cranford. So Paul has a hard decision to make if he decides to go with defense at SS and give the 9 hole up to whomever that will be. Does he go with Hughes who has proven over 2 years he is a career 9 hole hitter but has been through 2 SEC seasons and will produce more veteran ABs or do you go with the rookie who has never been through an SEC schedule and looks way behind at the plate right now hoping this changes and hoping his defense stays solid? I trust in PM making the best decision since he is the one who has watched both throughout the Fall and Pre-Spring.

Hughes is still K’ing with the bases loaded and 1 out, hardly a veteran AB. Cranford in his one opportunity, did get the rbi at least. So its hard for me to say he is worse at the plate

I’m ready to say frick it to fielding and just score all the runs

That just wont work with our current setup

It would if Doughty and Hampton could get the ball to start falling into gaps.
I agree with you about Hughes and Cranford. I really don’t see much of a difference in the field or at bat between the two so might as well keep letting Cranford get some ABs and see if he professes at the plate.

Per the stats posted after preseason scrimmages Cranford was 2-20 and 9 Ks. In the regular season, He’s 0-8 now with 3 Ks. It’s not a ton of ABs, but If he doesn’t do better, he won’t lock down SS.

I think we are just gonna see stop gaps at short until arnold is back

That would help you at 2nd base and centerfield, you still would need someone at shortstop and left field who could hit. And thats also assuming milazzo keeps hitting (which i suspect he will fall off)

If they lose tonight they might as well forfeit the rest of the midweek games for the remainder of the season. Not like they show up anyway.

Hal Hughes hasn’t hit .750 in a 4 game span since t ball
HAHAHAHA!! Hal Hughes couldn't hit .750 if there wasn't a defense on the field, even in t ball.

If we go 3-1 or even 2-2 I would take it. 4-0 great, 3-1 or 2-2 good. Less than that and we are getting some questions answered and not in a good way. Baseball is a funny sport. Momentum is tomorrows starting pitcher.....
