The best players from Louisiana also left back then at a much higher rate.

All our skilled players in Louisiana were going to Miami, Fla St, Norte Dame etc back then..was pretty bad..until Dinardo started building the wall. We let freaking Marshall Faulk get away to SD State of all places in the early 90’s.

Curley was making like $90,000.

He was still not nearly worth it.

This season sure is up there. Considering juniors came back and many were predicting 9-10 wins. Having many of the same issues on defense is inexcusable. The offense terribly regressed from the end of last year. It’s been a disgrace from O and his staff

After his sterling 10-25 record in Oxford, I suspect he's on a lot of worst-ever lists at Ole Miss.

He will be on the ole miss list definitely, but it’s hard to say he was our worst coach when he has more top ten wins over his tenure then anyone has had over the same years

Gotta look at the stats to really know for sure but it does seem pretty bad....right up there with the 90's teams

I think he’s had 12 or 13 top 10 wins since he was hired in 2017

Saban had 10 or 11 since 2017

Ryan day is one behind o I think.

That shows how good a coach can be at lsu even if he’s just an average or even below average coach

Curley started bad and ended bad. Brett Favre made him and broke him, just like Joe made and broke O.

Ed is a lot like Gerry. I have a feeling we got stuck with Daronte and Peetz because O did not want someone that could take over for him

This is dumb. Jones wasn't his 1st,2nd, or 3rd choice.

On the other side, why didn't Jeff Grimes get an interview? shite, if no one wanted the job, why not hand it off to Russ Callaway? Instead he went for 2 first-time play callers. With what we know now, it's not crazy to question the motives behind the 3 hirings. Especially with the background of how O went behind Les' back to try to get the interim job himself.

Exactly!!! Why didn’t Jeff Grimes get an interview over 2 first timers?

Archer inherited a stout team loaded with NFL talent consider in 1987 he had :

Michael Brooks
Eric Hill
Ron Sancho
Toby Caston
Steve Reagan
Chris Carrier

On offense
Hodson
S.Martin
Harvey Williams
Wendell Davis
Tony Moss
Eric Andolsek
Nacho Albergamo (decided on Med School instead of NFL)

By 89 all you had was Hodson and Harvey Williams and a 4-7 record and you don't even want to know about 1990

Jerry Stovalls 1983 team was 4-7. 0-6 in SEC play.

quote:

In 1983, Stovall's success of 1982 came unraveled. The Tigers went 0–6 in the SEC, including a 45–26 loss at home to Mississippi State, leaving Stovall 0–4 for his career against the Bulldogs. Stovall had a 2–2 record against Tulane. To date, the Tigers have only lost to Tulane on two other occasions since 1948, both under McClendon. After the Tigers had secured the Orange Bowl berth in 1982, they suffered their only home loss to Tulane since 1948. The Tigers have won 18 in a row in the series since but has only played the Green Wave six times since 1994, typically winning by comfortable margins.
