This move could backfire on Michigan from what I'm seeing.

1. Michigan Alumni are very split over whether it's a good thing that they have to pay a recruit that much and what that means for the program.
2. They see people that aren't true Michigan alumni but are close to the program as ruining the culture.
3. Depending on sanctions, etc and their record over the next 2 years, they could lose a lot of support, much in the same way we are unhappy about Kelly's contract.
I am in a lot of national football fan groups in social media and seeing many comments like this.
It's divided between the old guard that thinks Michigan should get people that want to be there and pay within reason and people who say this is the new way and want to just fork out hard cash and get prospects from everywhere like a team of mercenaries.

Underwood will be throwing footballs at Michigan and not LSU at the end of the day. You can try and spin it anyway you want. This is a brutal loss for LSU and a big win for Michigan.

This is true for any football program.

I mean they have a TERRIBLE head coach. Worse than ours... Will be interesting to see how long he keeps his job

This is the dilemma that every P4 school is having. We don't have enough evidence to see what method works best but theoretically it would be a balance of the two.

This is not a “brutal loss.” Jesus Christ.

I’m curious to see if a 12 million dollar kid causes locker room strife. The first time he throws a costly INT against Ohio State could spell disaster.

I posted in another thread that Moore was only hired to ride out the investigations and/or any sanctions that come down from the sign stealing shite.
He will be gone in a couple of years.

So a bunch of tards are bitching about money they didn’t put up to pay a top prospect QB?
I guess every fan base has them.
I personally hope it all back fires, but it won’t, he’ll end up being the second coming of Christ or some shite.

You can’t sit him. He has to start day 1.
What happens when the will Campbell of the team is still making “only” $500,000?
What happens to the redshirt sophomore 4 star qb making $100,000? How do you get him to stick around as a backup?

Kind of is, especially at QB
Not like LSU was continuing to pursue elite QB's for this class or even next year because LSU and the other potential QB recruits all thought Underwood had the future starting QB job locked up.
Better hope BK can either flip a QB from another school or hit the jackpot in the transfer portal again.

Agreed, but they are stuck with him at that price. Lots of what ifs, but what if he falters and doesn't pan out.
FYI, I'd like LSU to have that problem

The urgency to replace Underwood just isn’t as bad as some of you are portraying though. He wasn’t next year’s starter and LSU has quarterbacks in the bench to replace Nuss when he leaves. You are panicking about something that may or may not be an issue years down the road. It’s irrational.

"Big win for Michigan"
That remains to be seen. There are many complexities to this move by Michigan that could backfire. Not to mention the pressure that is now on Underwood to justify his $12 mil ASAP. And of course there could never be any animosity or jealousy from other teammates who feel they are being shorted on what they are getting. Of course not.
