This is the 2nd worst passing/total offense start in the last 15 years

It's the 2nd lowest completion percentage (47.7%) - only 2004 was a worse start at 43.8%.
It's the 3rd fewest yards at 291 yards. Only 2015 (145 yds) and 2016 (258 yds) are worse. Without the Hail Mary it falls to 251 yards, behind 2016.
It's also the 2nd fewest yards of total offense through 2 games in the last 15 years at 631 yards. Only 2016 had fewer total yards at 628.
We're a Hail Mary against SLU from the worst offense we've seen in 15 years.
ETA - Fwiw, the majority of those seasons had a solid P5 team and an FCS or G5 team in weeks one and two, so the strength of schedule is pretty fair.

A couple of good breaks in that department. Burrow threw one through a DBs hands last night and another where he couldn't get a foot down. Recovered our own fumble also IIRC.

Multiple 3 and outs is essentially turn overs.
I would prefer 2 turnovers if it meant 4 to 5 tds.. rather than say 1 Td and no turnover. Especially with this defense. If the defense was bad then I would feel differently about the risk.

Its still no excuse to look like that against Southeastern. We seemed to be the only school thinking like that because other schools blowed away their lesser competetion. Its not even about the score...its about the execusion. We looked bad!
