quote:He's a helluva an athlete: 710 yards rushing; 5.1 YPC; 6 TDs. No one on LSU's rosters last year had better YPC or more TDs. Only TDP had more yards rushing.
yeah, the kid is an athlete
quote:He's actually a good QB. He had the highest completion percentage and the second highest YPA in the PAC-12.
and not a bad qb
quote:Daniels is going into his 4th year.
but he is not beating out a 5th year player
quote:Brennan didn't play last year, and he had never played for these coaches.
that has been here
quote:Daniels was recruited to come here from the portal.
that the coaching staff recruited to come back from the portal
quote:Daniels was the starter for the last three years.
WAS going to be the starter the last two years
quote:Yup.
keeps this and ill see you in Sept.

I wonder why NFL scouts like a guy with terrible stats so much…

If he’s so great, why is he transferring
Probably because he isn't that good, certainly not as a passer. He is more in the Sam Ehlinger mode, good runner, very average passer. He had no real reason to transfer from ASU AS NOONE WAS PROJECTED TO PASS HIM UP. Still, a good pick-up.
Joe Burrow transferred because he was in a battle with a QB who set all kind of records in his one season as starter at OSU. As it turned out Joe turned out to be the better all-around QB, not because of physical raw talent but because of football smarts mentally (ala Tom Brady). Ohio State had an 'embarrassment of riches' at QB, which they have to this day.

His ASU stats don’t really stand out to me, especially last season. Why are we hyping him up already?

Can you elaborate on this? What field of work do you evaluate talent for?
I have multiple baseball players at LSU right now... I have dozens and dozens of players all over the country in baseball. one of the top HR hitters in the country is mine... Im in Travel ball/Instruction...
I also dabble a little bit in football, when I see a player I can connect with many football programs through the baseball dept, because many 7 on 7 tournaments are played right next to summer baseball tournaments..

I agree. I think all of the qbs have question marks. Not sure why anyone is hyping anyone right now. Let the guys come in and try running the system ffs

this is a pet peeve of mine... just because you "played" doesnt mean youre a talent evaluator or a coach. I know so many current and former big leaguers that are some of the stupidest people on this earth...
same in any other sport...

Jayden Daniels is a right handed Justin McMillan
Posted on 3/10/22 at 11:49 am to tadelatt
You linked an article from ONE "draft expert" and titled your post as "This is how NFL Scouts see Jayden Daniels..." and in said linked article said draft experts says other draft experts have daniels ranked lower.

There’s WAY too many things up in the air to determine who’s going to start.
None of the qbs have played for these coaches.
Brennan looked amazing for three games. But it was two years ago in a completely different system. Since then he hasn’t seen the field. Injured multiple times. One injury was extremely severe. Has appeared out of shape. Didn’t have a lot of offers at big programs in the portal.
Daniels was very highly rated in high school and had two full good years. But last year was not great.
Nuss is a guy who appeared to have a lot of potential. But didn’t look very good in his limited work last year. Still very young.
So how anyone thinks they know who the best option is is beyond me. Each prospect has some questions.

So what is it you’re basing your judgments on?
And why didn’t Brennan have a lot of big offers in the portal?
Is this a championship qb that no power 5 team in the country seems to see or recognize? Why?
Since you are the first talent evaluator I’ve seen in here, I’m legitimately asking.

I’m going to call my shot and say he’ll be the 2nd best QB we’ve had when it’s all said and done.
We have had another QB go #1 overall

32 TDs in 29 games, about 200 yards per game, 1 season with a completion% over 60 and a passer rating in the low 140s. Plus his play has declined from that incredibly overrated freshman year, nowhere else are you gonna see people pimping 17TDs in modern major college football. Maybe the greatness is just bubbling beneath the surface but he’s been a below average player so far.
And then the Lead village idiot just spouting off as usual
Daniels:29 total starts Team was 18-11 in games he started .620 winnning pct
Brennen: 3 total starts Team was 1-2 in games he started .333 winning pct
Daniels comp% by year: 2019 60.6% on 338 attempts, 2020 58.3% on 84 attempts, 2021 65.4% on 301 attempts
Brennan Comp% by year: 2017 58.3% on 24 attempts, 2018 66.7% on 6 Attempts, 2019 60.3% on 40 attempts, 2020 60.3% on 131 Attempts, 2021 no stats
Facts say 2 years over 60% for both.
Daniels 62.4% for career in 723 attempts
Brennen 60.2% for career in 201 attempts
Daniels 32TD 13Int: 1TD per 22.5 attempts, 1Int per 55.6 attempts
Brennen 13TD 5Int 1TD per 15.4 attempts, 1Int per 40.2 attempts
But somehow people are saying one or the other is the clear choice and the other sux.
Relax and let BK figure it out. They are paying him $9.5M

He had a NFL caliber WR year 1 and put up great stats, his receiver groups Yrs 2-3 weren't that good and he has had crap QB coaching the last 2 years, didn't have a dedicated QB coach in 2021. He definitely adds a dimension that LSU hasn't had the last 2 seasons and will be targeting a much better group of receivers. I think he can be a big bonus for LSU whether he starts or rotates in for key plays.

Kinda like when you said DJ Chark would never play in the NFL or when you said we’d never be an over .500 team with Tremont Waters as our point guard or like when you said Cam Thomas was trash or when you said Seneca Wallace would be our best player this year or like when you said Jalen Cook wasn’t good enough to play at LSU then pretended like you said the opposite all year long? Kind of like that? Don’t frick with me little boy.

For once we agree. The kid maybe improved enough to win the job, I’m
sure Kelly’s gonna play whoever earns it but people saying he’s gonna end up as the second best QB to ever play at LSU and some saying he would’ve been drafted ahead of Tre Lance, which means #2 overall, if he would’ve come out are insane.

Is this a joke? You realize the PAC is absolute garbage and a passing league.
This isn't apples to apples. We will never learn on these athletic, fast qbs.

All I see is excuses as to why he was 10 TD and 10 int in a garbage league with pass happy offenses. There is a huge difference in the league's defenses.
