If a donor isn’t willing pony up the money, LSU still owes the money. Meaning the state owes the money.
Where does that money come from?
The taxpayers.
Lots of ignorance going around.

So appalling.
They also wanted Moffit back too after celebrating his firing 4 years ago

It all boils down to them personally not liking Jeff Landry. That’s 100% all it is. They’re deep in their feelings and overreacting. This needed to be done a long time ago anyways and all of this hoopla will blow over soon.
This is the correct answer. This board has lost accountability and respectability all because of its hatred towards Landry. Little did I know there were so many ill-informed, illogical, and naive people on this board. Very much a representation of the population of the state so I shouldn’t be surprised.

I mean I always saw both sides on this issue and would have been good either way. But it feels like this board totally flip flopped.

He's not supposed to comment on it? I get wishing he was less visible in all this. But a state funded university, with no sitting president, in this situation with 100 million dollars on the line, I get speaking on it publicly and then stepping away. That just doesn't seem that egregious. If he does get further involved, I would understand at that point calling him out on his BS. I just don't currently see the line that he's crossed.

No genius. There is no buyout because Kelly doesn't get fired if the money wasn't secured through a private donor.

Without a previous governor, Tiger stadium may not have been the place it was back in the 60s and 70s. Huey Long if you are wondering..

If the taxpayers are ever paying coaching buyouts we have much, much bigger problems in this entire state.

Landry isnt even hiring the next coach, has said it repeatedly, and I just keep seeing ppl say he needs to stay out of it. Thats staying out of it. How is a governor supposed to respond to a state run university's athletic department spending 100s of million plus dollars audaciously?
If the state wants to be involved then the state can start footing the bill.
Considering it’s entirely funded by private donors, the state can frick right off.

I think that's the only thing that justifies him speaking publicly on it at the press conference when asked. I do, however, think him going on McAfee may have been crossing the line just a bit
The press conference is OK, but in my opinion everything yesterday was a little self serving to get his face out there.

He could get his fricking facts right before speaking about it

Landry has no business being in lsu sports. Woodward gets the coaches and the board of supervisors determines how much he makes and the contract negotiation process with the AD. A&M screwed their own self by giving Jimbo an extension. At the time of the Kelly hire most people thought it was a great hire. Our BOS decided to approve his contract. And with all this shite with Kelly’s contract they used Woodward as a scape goat. This BOS still won’t make any decisions so they let the Governor come in and make all the decisions to fire and you can bet your arse hire the next coach.
