Orgeron should have nothing to gain and everything to lose in this game. A&M's program is in trouble. They're planning to replace their coach. No way we should lose to them this year. No brownie points for a win, sorry Orgeron fans.
But If he pulls out a top ten recruiting class, I'll give him props for that. However his seat needs to stay hot until he proves that he was worth firing Miles over. In other words he needs to do something Miles clearly couldn't have done (beat Alabama, get into playoffs, etc.)

I am neither on or off the wagon. I simply want the team to win.
Honestly if he wins out he has essentially held serve. I want to see the program moving in the right direction. After a horrific start it is doing that, but in context we essentially just got our footing back. We have not elevated to an elite level and that's the goal.
I give O credit for righting the ship, but that is only the 1st phase. get us to 3-0 next season and I will start to truly believe.
Back to A&M. We need to win, win big and seize momentum going into next season. Move up and get a solid bowl matchup. Teams ahead of us will fall and we need to take advantage. MSU started the fall and others will too.

making decisions based on one game is dumb.

This aTm game should be the deciding factor for us all with Coach O.
Ultimatum makes you feel good then go with it
One game does not determine the outcome of our program
You don't like O and not sure you ever will
Enjoy the ride and let the AD handle the hiring and firing as this is what we pay him for.
I am in this for enjoyment not misery so learn to enjoy the 10 plus win seasons and also not be miserable with the 4 loss season.
If we have 8 win seasons as the norm then let the AD hire a good coach.

No next season should be the deciding factor. Go 10-2 in the regular season with that schedule and I think we will be just fine with the hire. No excuses next year though.

This season early struggles were going to happen due to all defections along the oline and injuries to key players. The Mississippi gane was a learning experience for freshman starting there first SEC gane on road.. The Troy game reminded me of the game with Troy when they had that big lead on us and they chocked the gane away...But after Troy the players turned it around and to my surprise has overachieved with big victories over Auburn at home and SEC road games..We are about where we should be now...Next year with OC being in second year Offense shoild be better for the beginning of season with the players having 1 year of experience.. Need QB to take next step and recruit some RB's. Defense will be better also. Time to roll

I haven't been engaged at all with the O chatter over the months, but I now feel the need to jump in.
The A&M game determines our support? Or, a series of 8-4 seasons should be win we look for a new coach? [These taken from above.]
I say that a trend is not made with a single data point. We won't know if O is successful until we see 2 or 3 or 4 season data points. Then we can truly see the direction of the program.
Here's one fan that is basing my future thoughts of success on O's past successes with recruiting.

But a loss to aTm; loses me. We would essentially be what we were when everyone was screaming for Miles’s head.
LSU already is where it was with Miles. An SEC loss in September while Saban is in Tuscaloosa means no trip to Atlanta.
Once again, LSU’s November goal is to finish strong for a good bowl game and to help recruiting.
Same song, different verse. LSU is a now a perennial top 20 team that can’t sniff the top 5 of the final poll.

This game is eerily like the Florida game last year. If we had beaten Florida we more than likely would have gotten the Sugar Bowl. Now, if we beat A&M, paired with the Mississippi State loss, puts us in a better bowl situation. I hope he can get the boys ready this time!!

What if I'm just not ready to believe long term yet? I'm encouraged by the turnaround after the early season adversity. I think he can recruit and evaluate just fine. I think he will have a good staff consistently. My biggest concern that will only be answered over time is can he avoid the meddling that caused the dissension early on and likely is the reason we lost to Troy? That can't happen again.
I think he's learning as he goes as all coaches continue to do throughout their careers. The early part of the year was difficult with injuries, playing a ton of freshman and losses. It would have been very easy to panic and completely go off the tracks. I thought he would. To his credit, he did the opposite. Orgeron isn't the same coach he was at Ole Miss. I'm totally comfortable saying that after a full season. I think he's at worst an 8-4, 9-3 coach. What's his ceiling? That's the real question that nobody knows. He's had a ton of negative recruiting to deal with too, but the more he wins, the more he can shut that up. Obviously winning makes recruiting easier but in his case it also starts to wipe away the ole miss record as the only indicator of his head coaching ability.
Is he a championship coach? I'm more willing to consider to that he might be now than I was in September because of the turnaround this year. Being objective, he's relied on a lot of freshman and the team has gotten better has the seasons gone on. We have limitations, but we all knew that. He's coached around them the best they can.
He's gotta finish strong on the field and recruiting. Next years class has the potential to be a monster and really catapult things back to a championship level.

I’m an LSU fan first and a coach whoever fan a distant second. I support O because he’s the head coach at LSU but I don’t think I’ll ever make a permanent decision regarding what you’re talking about. My love for LSU will never waiver. My love for a coach will. Just how it is.

It has to be at this point. Which is why we need the win.
