Can’t imagine players on defense purposely playing bad and wasting a season where the offense is playing as well as they did. Lots of speculation for sure

If they did, I hope it was football related and not the players getting all butt hurt over some woke bullshite like they did when Coach O was interviewed by Fox News. LSU is BLMU, so it probably was football related. DEI in full effect!

This defense wasn't elite last season but was much better than what we saw in 2023. We returned a lot of talent, definitely lost some guys but it wasn't like we lost 7 all SEC defenders to account for the extreme drop off.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but we lost a lot of talent; and the replacements we picked up couldn’t fill their shoes.

DE BJ ujilari
LB Baskerville
DT Roy
DT Mingo 6-7 games
S Brooks 12 games
CB Bernard-Converse
CB Garner
Nickel Ward

Returning starters
Mingo missed 6-7 games
Penn
Perkins
Burns

Why does everything that goes on negatively at LSU have to involve some soap opera-ish type of conspiracy theory? Are we admitting that LSU has a culture problem? One outside the control of coaching?
It's been made clear all season long that the scheme House prefers is too difficult for our players to pick up. He could've simplified it for sure but is he really at fault because our kids may have been just a little dumb? Him being terrible and the kids not doing their part physically or educationally can both be true.

It’s fairly simple.

Last year you had a great DL coach, better LBers experience, and the DBs brought in all had been developed and were almost pros at that point so the shitty coaching didn’t affect them.

You got a taste of this season at the end of the year when JCB and others were out and the defense went to shite vs A&M and UGA.

Perkins was playing on pue instinct and physical talent. He didn’t develop at LBer as the leader this year and Speights was a bust.

In the end, talent and experience last year covered up for shitty LBer and DB coaching and the scheme issues.

This year, you saw what quality of coaching these guys had, and was why the extension last year and pushing out of Cain was just stupid.

I mean you don't usually see players openly celebrating when a coach is fired or behaving like Mekhi did after a bowl win.

Imagine getting paid 10M to hire incompetence for 1/2 of your operation. Only to fire them and have your boss pay over 5M for your boneheaded mistake.

Before the Ole Miss game, things were probably happening behind the scenes. The defense in that game was awful.

is it possible Ryan went into the portal because he was done with this staff and decided to return after being assured that they were going to be fired?

No serious leader tells the rank and file something like that about a lieutenant. That would be wildly unprofessional.

The highest-graded DB on the team that can return should be happy he still has a scholarship?

it was the lack of effort that went on all season long that showed there was major dysfunction happening. tackling is about effort and my god ive never seen a defense tackle as bad as this lsu defense.

So you thought the House hire was a bad one when it was announced he was coming to LSU? Most seemed excited. He had a solid resume and put together a nice defense at Kentucky. Sometimes the hires don’t work. At least they pulled the trigger and cut them loose.

If you are trying to fill job positions and you need bodies from that room to continue, wouldn't you want the smartest guy out of that room? That is what I am saying, setting aside that a few may be misdiagnosed and may just need a better education to allow them to meet their potential.

Duh! The players are the rabbit that has been the target of blame all season.
They "quit" and the coaches became the target.

Defense is a lot of effort and playing together. That side of ball clearly didn’t like playing for House and also had chemistry issues among themselves. All of that is on the DC and why he should have been fired after Ole Miss game IMO. Sometimes a change in leadership fixes a lot.
