There seems to be the idea that Georgia's run defense is overrated..

at least from the few threads I skimmed yesterday. Or that our defense is only so-so and only ranks high because of our level of competition. Well here's some food for thought, below is the rushing yards allowed by UGA and LSU in the 6 games against common opponents.
Miss -- UGA 34/LSU 148
MSU -- UGA 56/LSU 59
UT -- UGA -21/LSU 111
UF -- UGA -19/LSU 113
KY -- UGA 23/LSU 89
AU -- UGA 51/LSU 87
Now, I'm not saying that our defense is as good as LSU's, because it isn't. Please understand that. All I'm saying is that for those who think our defensive ranking (especially run defense, which is the strength of our whole team) is only where it is because of our schedule, well that's not quite accurate. We don't have bama or LSU's defense, but we're not as far behind as people would like to think.

Your defense is closer to that of florida than lsu or bama
Which is why no one is scared

Those stats are really good. How's your secondary?
I'm not hating, I'm just suggesting that perhaps teams tend to throw on you more than say LSU.

LSU gains 200 yds rushing this Sat

Those numbers look very impressive. But why hasn't Georgia blown out these weak opponents. Could you do a comparison of points allowed. And total yardage.

And where exactly do those offenses rank?

Why yes, yes you are.

Your run defense may be good.
The issue is our running game is probably better. It has multiple looks and features multiple backs with different skill sets. Not to mention the threat of the QB running.
I'm not sure any other team presents what LSU presents in terms of a run game.
Just my opinion.
ETA- we are averaging about 300 yards a game over the last 3 weeks.

It's above average but not great or elite like LSU's. Rambo leads the SEC in picks I believe, and we've got good guys at every spot. But we are definitely succeptible to give up a big passing play or two.
And you're exactly right, teams probably do try to run more on LSU than us, I'm sure teams gameplanned differently for us than LSU. All I'm saying is that in the exact same teams we both played, our rushing defense was superior pretty much across the board, sometimes by a very wide margin. Our run defense is legit.

Why does that matter if both teams played them?

Hey
We will ask the questions.
We will ask the questions.

Likely because our offense and special teams didn't have the same success that LSU did against them. No denying that.

It's going to be a great game. Obviously a lot of issues will become clear by the end.
LSU played flat in a couple games you site simply because of the previous weeks demanding games, so I do not think this comparison holds water, just my 2 cents.
Also while UGA defense appears close to LSU/Bama's or next best, however you view this, the difference is much greater due to quality of LSU's play OL and DL.
I liked what Tony Barnhart said this morning on his show. "If it was a 30 minute game UGA may win but they can't hang for 60"

Fair enough. I typically stick to the SEC rant, but I figured yall might get bombarded with a few idiot homers claiming we're the best ever and will beat LSU by 30 so I was trying to at least bring some rational thought and good discussion to the board from our side.

Why are you trying to convince us that Georgia's defense is as good as LSU's? We all know that it is not.
In those games where teams ran on LSU, they weren't passing at all. We gave up around 230 yards per game total in those games. Plus, sometimes LSU gives up some yards because of how they are playing defense - hanging back some and trying to force mistakes.
Georgia is a good team. No one doubts that. We just believe that LSU is better. You are not going to change our minds.

I think that's a great point of view. I truly believe it'll be a very close game to start the 4th but we just give out.
If Crowell doesn't play, which he may or may not due to some off the field stuff, we dont' have a chance.
